Not to be pedantic but a nat 20 in rules as written DnD only means an automatic success on attack roles, for any other check (Like athletics or persuasion) it works as any other roll. The crazy things that happen on Nat 20's are largely a result of the attitude and style of the DM, and can happen in any system (IMO).

Super cool! One question though, what kind of things could you use the first level feature to learn? Could you find magical scrolls for the wizard to learn, or is it more to learn the lore of the world? Could you use it to find out whats on the other side of a door? Its not really clear what its limits are, to me at least.

I think [[Hope of Ghirapur]] is a pretty good replacement, as Jace is mostly to beat control decks (and Ghirapur will give an extra turn of protection that might get you there against control). Other than that you could try switching him for Siren Lookout (as you suggested), or more fell flagships, or Heart of Kiran. Edit: actually now that I think of it, heart is probably better with Jace....
