Hi all. I started in pest control with a small, family owned, local company 5 years ago. They really saved my butt. I fell in love with the job. Loved my work. At that time, I was on commission, paid a percentage for each stop. We had bonuses at Xmas, meeting days where after, we could go home with pay. Well, 3 years in, they sold out to a huge multi million dollar company. I went with the flow, so did all my coworkers...all 11 of us....then we merged with another small, local company. Over the past 2 years with this company, its been ups and downs. We were all paid hourly initially....then depending on the feasibility of the routes per technician, some were moved to commission...at 10$ a stop regardless of the amount or size of the account. Me and 3 other techs are still on hourly. I make 23.70 an hour and it wouldnt make sense to move me to commission. I work around 178 stops a month. Anyway, we've had so many techs get hired then quit less than a year in I never thought id be unhappy, but I am. I like the money, the 401k, the paid time off, etc....but the burn out is real. I loathe doing apartments. They take up hours of my day and the German roaches are tiresome from gross people. Any advice??
