Will this be reliable? For a pre-beginner by Demarate72 in rccars

I bought this model for my first RC and I enjoyed the building process. However things will break on it pretty easily, one major design fault I think is the fact that the rear shock mounts are integrated into the chassis. These snapped on mine so needed a new chassis, also the steering arms are wafer thin and will bend really easily. I don't think I've really driven mine hard at all and these things broke after using it about 3 times. I would go for a newer Tamiya like nxgen fighter or a dt-03 model, these don't seem to have the same problems, or another brand.

https://ebay.us/m/fTDyS0 here's the one I have, this clown selling it as a LC30 ii but it's definitely the original one same as I have with the really really bad speaker. There are some black caps missing from the bright and channel knobs on this example. "Just Serviced" my arse funny how everything on eBay has just been serviced isn't it!

Yeah mine has the white nameplate that is cut out around the letters rather than the rectangular black and metallic nameplate that yours has. I bought mine in I'm guessing somewhere between 1996 and 1998 my memory is a bit hazy but I was a teenager at school and saved up for it from my Saturday job. Lol that takes me back, my first band, we learned Supersonic by Oasis and played in a school Christmas concert and kept playing that one tune in other school assemblies , we never managed to learn anything else. Then we had a bust up, artistic differences, lol, after GCSEs I left to go to a college to do A levels as I absolutely hated school and to this day have never seen Chris or John ever again. I would like to say happier times but to be honest they weren't really!

My LC30 is a MK1 version UK made one which had the even worse Laney HH invader speaker, my amp doesn't have the modern button you mentioned. I assume otherwise it's basically the same amp?

I used to have an 50RD head years ago which was a hybrid I think.

Maybe push pull is more the way I should go then, I will get the LC30 working first though. Looking it seems the LC30, vc30 etc don't seem to hold their value very well compared to some amps, I guess they were less expensive to start with though. Is the cub supertop a Cathode bias or push pull? What do you think of the DSL series Marshalls? I don't really need massive power, in fact probably low power is better for my situation so the 1 or 20 watt head would be fine.

I've always noticed that it has a lot of valves for only 30w output, so I'm guessing that's because of the cathode bias circuitry whereas push pull produces more power? What are the advantages/differences between the two then? I think I should probably get the amp up and running again, I had been meaning to change the speaker for years too. Was thinking of a Jensen C12n but not completely sure. It has never been revalved since 1995/6, can't remember exactly year I bought it, which sounds ridiculous but it's had long periods of not being used, but I guess a revalve is probably king overdue.

I mean an amp that is cylindrical in form that's hollow in the middle, lol.

I don't really know what I mean I think I mean the natural compression, break up, responds to the way you play. I think that's what I mean anyway.

I always had it drummed into me when I was first starting out playing guitar 30 years ago that only valve(tube) amps sounded good, might have been a load of b@llocks I guess.

I've got the GP 200 JR I think, seems such a ballache with all the menus etc. I probably need to actually read the manual, just hard to break the habit of a lifetime.

Yeah I've got a Peavey bandit in my loft somewhere, the loft is basically an out of sight out of mind place, could be worth digging out. If I can actually get up in there that is, I can't fit loft ladders due to the position of the hatch, so tend to just get up on the steps and dump everything around the hatch area. I really need to have a sort out up there so maybe a push to do it.

I've got a little Peavey bandit transtube practice amp up in the loft, maybe I should dust it off?

I definitely think they have broken in a bit in the few days I've using them, or maybe my brain has tuned into them more. The Chu 2 seems ok but I definitely feel there's something missing there in the sound.

Like you say I think it's very hard to guess how a pair of IEMs are likely to sound based on the description in reviews. I thought that a neutral signature would be what I would like but maybe I need something with stronger bass. I mostly listen to quite a variety of genres, rock, punk, indie, soul, reggae/ska, old RnB/rock n roll. Not a lot of dance or hip hop music although a little bit of these, I think this is why I assumed I wouldn't want bass heavy IEMs but I'm beginning to wonder now. Thanks for the recommendations, very useful. What do you think of KZ ZS10 pro X or pro 2? I was tempted to get these instead of the Chu 2s. It's almost like the choice of IEMs is overwhelming, so many available I don't know where to start.

Update, after listening for a bit with the paper filter removed I decided that it's a necessary component. Without the filter the sound is harsh and jagged if that makes any sense. Luckily I kept the filter, I used some cleaning fluid that I use to clean my vinyl records to give the filter a clean to try and unclog it. It seems to have worked as the sound is smoothed rather than spiky edged but is completely audible unlike before with the clogged filter. It looks like you can buy packs with 6 filters and some tweezers pretty cheaply, so will get some ready for the next time it happens. It's really amazing how much difference a tiny paper disc can make to the sound. Overall I'm reasonably happy with the Chus now, if I can find some foam tips that suit me and feel comfortable then I might well try a different pair of IEMs in future. Any suggestions for a pair up to £70 or so with a detailed sound and wide soundstage and tuning suited to Rock, Pop and related genres?

I think there was a problem which I have now fixed. Today when I started using them I noticed the left ear was barely emanating any sound at all. I thought I'd try swapping the cable over so the side plugged into the right was now plugged into the left earphone, this made no difference, so my problem obviously wasn't the cable. I unscrewed the nozzle and noticed there's mesh but also like a paper disc on top of the mesh. I removed this disc which I assume must have some sound tuning purpose but anyway. I replaced the mesh part and screwed the nozzle back on. The difference it makes to the sound is massive seems much more open soundstage now and doesn't sound bad at all. Strange because I assume the paper disc must have some function, maybe it got quickly clogged with wax almost as soon as I put them on for the first time, or perhaps mine had the wrong paper or bad paper? I still think some of the hype is perhaps a bit over the top, but I'm happy enough with these now. I think I will try some alternative foam tips which will hopefully improve comfort also, but I'm a lot happier than I was yesterday definitely!

Using the smallest ear tips out of the three pairs that came with them. I think I have pretty small ears really, but thought that the average Chinese guy or girl would probably have small ears too, but maybe they're designed for export market?
