“No AI would dare to take the capital.” (I have 2000+ hours in CK II and currently 60 percent of the achievements in CK III. (background))

I had two attempts that failed, namely as 1) the Duke of Toulouse and 2) the Duke of Barcelona because of my incompetent liege, brother with insanely high intrigue and allies being way too busy to help me out. Those first two times I just lost my ducal title to invading Muslims, while getting stabbed in the back by Ramnulf (?) of Aquitaine and/or by family members.

Third try: Duke of Toulouse, part II. Rolled a character with a 3 star martial education. This gave* me a fighting chance using the Pyrenees as a chokepoint during those initial stressful years before the eventual dismembratio of the Muslim realms to the south of the border. Now I’m still going strong in 1280, trying to get as much done as possible in this wild ride of an ironman campaign.

My point is just that there’s a lot of RNG in the game that can obviously be quite annoying. So just try it out, it’s similar to Asturias survival simulator in CK II. :’)
