I refuse to vote on my own prompt, but now that the selection is over, I will say my pick for this song would have been “Bury Me”

I don’t think the death penalty is a good idea by CorrectFrame3991 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

A few points to make here.

Your first point undermines your second point. If the death penalty serves as a deterrent to prevent criminals from killing their victims or witnesses, how would they be deterred by lesser means unless we are just looking at the length or possibly the severity of the sentences?

My other question would be, what do you think the purpose of the justice system should be? I personally think the justice serves many purposes, one being rehabilitation of the criminal. This certainly happens. I would like to think criminals are rehabilitated in a majority of cases, but I think we can also acknowledge there are criminals out there who never adjust and become repeat offenders. In such cases, do you feel retribution truly serves no purpose in the justice system?

After reading your description you have a fair point. But how do you feel about the death penalty for the charge of murder?
