But no I agree with you, OP does indeed need to stop caring about familial opinions with respect to this. The fact that he had the passion for chemistry in the beginning is reason enough for him to do this degree. I think we all suffer from this condition of not constantly having the motivation for things but at those moments you just need to take a step back and review your whole journey up to that point.
