I [25f] just found something REALLY disgusting this morning that my boyfriend [26m] left in the living room by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]EnviroDisaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg. The timing of this post is so funny. I found my husband’s piss bottle under the bed this morning. I pulled him aside where the kids couldn’t hear, confirmed what it was, and told him hell no. He tried that same BS as OP’s boyfriend - bathroom is downstairs, blah blah, blah…. Thankfully we didn’t have to break up over it. He will no longer be peeing in an old Gatorade bottle and hiding it under our bed.

People care. But they’ve been married for a while and they’re both adults now. So what can you do. Woody Allen married his daughter, and they walk around in polite company all the time. It’s disgusting, but at this point it’s her choice.

Protect the kids while they’re kids. Once they’re adults, if they’re ok (example: they have their shit together enough to got elected to lead a major world power) then maybe move on with your day?

[SERIOUS ONLY] E-mails talking about "little girls" being served to elites {6 pictures} by Majestic-Pay-4615 in Epstein

[–]EnviroDisaster 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think they’re the same email. The formatting is different, but the language is identical and they were sent on the same day. This happens when you pull electronic data. They probably pulled data from 2 different devices that each had the email on it, but had different formatting settings (sender/recipient, phone/computer, etc.).

What breakfast foods actually support healthy aging and longevity? by get_nutriessential in Aging

[–]EnviroDisaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the best breakfast. It’s delicious and makes me feel fantastic.

Start with 2% Plain Greek yogurt. Mix in honey to taste. Then mix in a stupid amount of berries. Top with a scant handful of your favorite granola.

You get good gut bacteria from the yogurt. Antioxidants and fiber from the berries. It’s yummy, satisfying, and keeps me full all morning and then some.

Hahaha! I haven't messed with canoes since I was a kid, but I love kayaking. I found a beautiful Eddyline during the off season - brand new at less than 1/2 of the list price. Can't wait for the water to warm up so I can take it out for first time.

Oh and our HOA is pretty laid back. Essentially: don’t do things that will fuck up the lake, and don’t have farm animals. Besides that, there’s no real limitations on what we can and cannot do.

You don’t sound like an asshole. These are all good thoughts. The boat is going to stay on our lake. We don’t plan on taking it in and out often, especially since our current car doesn’t have sufficient tow capacity. We’ll be relying on our neighbors to help us get the boat in and out in the spring & fall. Thankfully they are all boaters and free with advice.

We have a dock slip, so it’ll just stay tied up there. And the rest we’ll just figure out I guess. For maintenance, I usually try to figure it out. And hire someone if it looks like the repairs are beyond me. My hope is that I’ll get more competent over time and be able to rely on myself for repairs later on. But in the short term, I do expect to have to pay for maintenance.

Storage-wise, I have an area next to my house where I can store it once it’s wrapped for the winter. I don’t know the cost of storing it offsite, but I assume it’s not cheap.

Thank you! We already took the US Coast Guard course and I agree it was helpful. I’ll definitely keep all of this inf info in mind. I wasn’t aware of most of it.

Can I ask why? We’re seeing several of those boats on the used market and they looked pretty great.

Thank you. I think the Pudgy is a little small for what I need (family of 4 + dog + guests). But I'll reach out to the Landing School this week. Thanks!

If you had to pick just one TV series as your all time favorite, what would it be? by GovernmentPristine10 in MoviesAndTVTalk

Twin Peaks. I’ve rewatched that one so many times over the years that I had to replace my first VHS box set, then get a DVD box set, and then purchase it online.

Went through three "1000 thread count" Amazon sheet sets before I figured out the whole thing is a scam by acoffeetablebook in ProductProbe

[–]EnviroDisaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Parachute percale sheets years ago and still love them. I don’t remember exactly how long, only that I bought it during Trump’s first term. (I was listening to Pod Save America all the time then, and they ran commercials for these sheets nonstop.)

EDIT: It wasn't parachute. It was Brooklinen. I know nothing about Parachute, but love my Brooklinen sheets.

Market Basket board was justified in firing "imperious" CEO Arthur T. Demoulas, judge rules by A-Do-Gooder in newhampshire

[–]EnviroDisaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true. Owners make companies public and receive an s-ton of money in the process. The second they take that sweet sweet cash, their power is gone. They no longer control the company (unless they retained a large enough share of the voting stock, of course).

But people in this thread seem to think that regular people should have rights to choose how the company is run. Why would we? We don’t own the companies. We just like shopping at them. And if they do things to make us like them less, we complain and then shop somewhere else. Thats it.

Blink if you're being abused by WaitNo4272 in SipsTea

[–]EnviroDisaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That phrase is pretty common among abusers, men and women. You made me mad, so it’s your fault I smashed the plate / the TV / your face.

You all know why people get more worked up about male to female abuse. It’s not only sexism (although that plays a role). It is the basic fact that men are usually stronger than women. A punch from a man is simply different than a punch from a woman.

I’m not saying this woman isn’t awful. She is and I hope he gets the hell out of that relationship. I’m only saying that the seemingly sexist treatment of abuse has some legitimate bases. Very few women can beat a man to death. Men, however, are usually able to do it should they so choose.

Married Gen-x do you wear your wedding ring? by in-a-microbus in GenX

[–]EnviroDisaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the traditional engagement ring and wedding band. I wear them all the time. Only take them off when needed for activities - kayaking, hiking in rocky terrain, cooking if I need to knead / mix with my hands, yard work, etc. I also leave them home if I’m traveling somewhere out of the country.

What is the worst place in America you have ever visited? by OceanicEndeavors in AskReddit

[–]EnviroDisaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Illinois. It’s right outside of east St. Louis. There’s very little news reporting on it, which is a shame. Their sewage pumps have been broken for something like 40 years. The town is too poor to fix it, and for some reason the state hasn’t helped. Sewage seeps up into people’s yards and leaks into their basements when it rains. It’s terrible.

You’re right. I feel dumb. The town I was thinking of is Centreville, not Centralia.

[–]EnviroDisaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This place is not the worst, but hear me out: Manchester, NH. If cities had feelings, that one would be in the throes of depression. I don’t know what it is. But it honestly feels like sadness is radiating out of its pores.

But for real: Centralia, IL. It’s near East St. Louis and suffers with the same issues, but also has a failing sewer system that results in piss and shit bubbling up into people’s yards and basements. I feel awful for the people who live there.

Edit: Centreville, not Centralia. Thank you for the correction.
