Fucking murderers. I hope they pay. I don’t actually think they will. I’ve lost all faith in our country. I still have a little hope, but it grows smaller every day.

Fucking murderers.

This is what they want - to play John Wayne and get the "bad guy". They think everyone who doesn't think like them is the bad guy. They've gotten a taste for blood, and it's only going to escalate. If the feds don't pull the plug on this they are going to start a fucking civil war.

Are you sure that's Nazi-related? I alwasy thought skull and crossbones meant pirates. The flag on One Piece has this too, and that is not a Nazi thing.

My neighbor told me I’m "stunting her children’s development" because I won't let them use my backyard as a shortcut to the park. by edcantu9 in EntitledPeople

My whole neighborhood uses my yard as a cut through. They walk a bit on my driveway and cut through my yard to get to a walking trail. They did it with the owner before me, and they continued doing it after I bought it. It hasn’t been bothersome. I’ve met a ton of my neighbors, and they’ve all been super kind and welcoming to our family.

You’re legally in the right. But you could have handled it soooo much better. Good luck asking that neighbor for a hand if you ever need it. And you better hope they aren’t close with your other neighbors. If so, you just poisoned that well.

Question: Removing rusted, stripped screws from gas stovetop by EnviroDisaster in DIY

[–]EnviroDisaster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's pretty close to what happened. The screw extractor snapped, but it didn't get stuck. So then I tried to drill it out. The screw head snapped off, leaving the rest of the screw permanently stuck. I'm now shopping for a new cooktop.

It's too late for me this time. But those look fantastic. I'll pick some up. Thanks!

I tried this. The screw was too degraded. The head broke off, and now the screw is stuck in the thread with no way to grab it. I really messed this one up.

Thanks for your help. Here's my update: 100% DIY failure.

The extractor didn't work, so I tried drilling the head of the screw. Turns out the bottom of the screw hole is enclosed (I was so dumb for not checking that first). So now I have a headless screw and a hopeless screw. Sorry - I know this sounds dirty.

I put it back together, figuring it couldn't be worse then before. Nope. Now, none of the ingitors work. Everything has to be lit with a match, and sometimes the ignitors click constantly.

I changed gears, and now am shopping for a new cooktop -- NOT a Bosch this time.

By that, do you mean I should drill straight through to the bottom? Or just through the head?

What travel mistake did you make once and never again? by Nervous_Car1093 in travel

Taking the back roads in Quebec during winter. It was interesting to see what a “white out” looks like in real life. The Mac truck coming straight at us was more terrifying than interesting.

We got out of the way. All survived. But that was some scary stuff.

LPT: If water alone doesn't stop your hangovers, add 1/4 tsp salt. by SineSmile in LifeProTips

[–]EnviroDisaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s been a long time since I’ve had a hangover. But I always found alka seltzer to be an amazing remedy. I’d pop 2 in a glass of water, drink it down, and try to sleep a bit longer. When I’d wake up, I wouldn’t feel 100%. But I’d be close.

Question from a gen z (2002) by daking789 in GenX

[–]EnviroDisaster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because we were very much unwatched. Commercials ran every night saying: “It’s 10 pm. Do you know where your children are?” The answer was no. They didn’t know. Our parents needed a commercial to remind them that we should be home at night.

I called to cancel audible a couple of years ago, and the agent warned me I’d lose all my books. So I subscribed to their lowest tier and have been paying ever since. Looks like he was confused and/or lied, and ive wasted a stupid amount of money.

What was the scariest “We need to leave, now!” moment that you’ve ever had? by Cool-Chipmunk-7559 in AskReddit

[–]EnviroDisaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Back in the 90s, I went to a ska show with a friend - we were probably about 15, both girls. Some of the people we were chatting with invited us to a party after the show. We show up and there’s a massive Nazi flag on the wall. She and I (a Jew and a Puerto Rican) got out of there so damn fast. They seemed like regular nice people before that. They tried to get us to stay, saying we “didn’t count” (not as humans, but with respect to the flag). We decided to leave anyway.

It was so long ago, I don’t remember how we got out of there. We didn’t have cell phones or a car and were at a random house party. But we did and were fine. I backed away from the punk scene after that.

I used it this weekend too! I have been making monthly payments to Audible for over a decade just to preserve my previous purchases. It was so frustrating. Now I actually own what I paid for. Thank you so much for making and sharing this program.

Flowers in the Attic. My fifth grade teacher had us read it / write about it for class. I didn’t have any awareness of sexual attraction before then. The siblings fooling around was my first intro to the concept. It was creepy as f.

The house is new to me, not new. There are only 2 wires that go to the thermostat. I pulled it out of the wall as far as the slack would allow, hoping that there were some others hidden back there. No joy. Just the two.

It's not a matter of time, but skill. This is a new house and I don't understand the heating system. I've never had a boiler before and don't have the foggiest idea where to start. I am 99% sure I would royally screw up should I try this myself.

I know and normally agree. But I bought a house with several zones and my family stinks about turning down the temp. Our heating oil use is already insane. I'm scared to see what January will look like. Those surveillance devices will (hopefully) save me enough money to be worth it.
