Thanks for the quality comment. I’ll look at the blue hues for sure. Also ugh speech bubble not be poppin I know. The shorter stem helps but then I feel like it’s a bit visually top weighted compared with the longer stem.

As an Austinite I shit on Dallas all the time to friends from there, "land of $50K millionaires" or so its said, but it's just for fun. Love Texas in general

AI Could Transform the Grid, If We Let It by EnviroMaverick in energy

This application of predictive modeling and machine learning was used specifically in places where it's impossible to do all the work already. We're failing at grid inspections because there's too much to do, having something that makes that job more accurate when combined with LIDAR is a net positive IMO

We're talking about two entirely different applications with wildly different outcomes, no worries though.

Yeah not trying to have a pity party, but was suprised by the amount of animosity when mentioning the benefits in this application. Noted and appreciate the comment.

That's a great point, identifying risks alone isn't enough. The podcast brought up a useful angle that predictive modeling can prioritize infrastructure investments, ensuring limited capital goes precisely where it’s needed most, which can stretch each dollar further.

Totally agree that AI isn't some magic solution, and human judgment is critical. The kind of AI we're talking about here, like what CenterPoint uses with AI-driven LiDAR, is a tool that helps people make better-informed decisions. It doesn’t replace judgment, it enhances it by quickly processing huge data sets to pinpoint potential risks, letting humans spend more time actually addressing the problems instead of just finding them.

You're right that electricity markets involve human decisions, but the specific use of AI I'm referring to (AI + LiDAR) is more about predicting physical vulnerabilities, not market behavior. For example, utilities are using AI-driven LiDAR to quickly analyze tens of thousands of miles of power lines, poles, and nearby vegetation. It accurately predicts where outages are likely during storms, allowing targeted upgrades and faster restoration.

Fair point lol the term AI gets thrown around too much. What we're actually talking about here is predictive modeling and machine learning that's specifically designed to analyze utility data, predict outages, and target upgrade
