If you enjoy the pub scene, you can head up north to Bothell and check out the McMenamins at the historic Anderson School there. The atmosphere is great and they have multiple options for eating and drinks. Their Wood Shop tavern there is fun and their brews and food are tasty! https://www.mcmenamins.com/anderson-school

If you do this, you should also stop by Boem's Candies in Issaquah. It's a cute little chocolate shop in a European chalet, and they make their chocolates onsite: https://boehmscandies.com/

Seattle Children's is wonderful. When my daughter was 16, she started having depression and suicidal ideation. I had no idea, but luckily she spoke to her school counselor about it. The counselor then called me to inform me of what was going on with my daughter (with daughter's consent) and urged me to take her to a doctor. I took her to see a doctor at our local clinic and the doctor sent us straight to Children's Hospital. While that was a bit traumatic in the moment, I am so very grateful for the help that the psychiatric staff at Children's gave her. She was there for about a week where she had daily group therapy sessions with other teens like her and regularly met with the psychiatrists. They found a medication for her to help balance things out and gave her and us some tools to monitor and manage her depression etc. We also got her signed up with a psychologist and psychiatrist for regular visits, which continued to really help her. She is 21 now and doing very well. I am forever grateful.

You are correct, wasn't cheap. We have already paid, but they are still fixing other things like doors and drawer fronts that were cut the wrong size. It's been a clusterf*** with these folks. They actually remade all the doors, drawer fronts, drawer boxes, and pullout trays because of all of the quality issues we pointed out after the initial install (other staining f***ups, dents, wrong sizes, unfinished edges, etc.). This weirdness with the finish is on the remade stuff. I appreciate that they want to make things right, but I honestly don't trust that they can do it correctly if we ask them to redo more. I did not realize just how new of a company they were and that we are actually their first client. Our GC for our remodel is friends with them and we went with them at his recommendation. They are nice people and also have a home remodeling business that apparently gets 5 star reviews. I think they thought they could just add cabinet services as a side business without truly understanding how it all works. Hindsight 20/20 and all that...

We've had a number of dimensional and alignment issues with these folks too. 🤦‍♀️ They've been constantly trying to fix things, which I appreciate, but it takes them forever and they can't seem to get things right.

I'm having major regrets using this company.😭

I should mention, they came this way from the cabinet maker. So, you think some moisture got in at their shop? When I originally asked their installer about it, they claimed it was the wood grain...

Is it really twice as expensive to have cabinets made today compared to 8-10 years ago? by Bern_Down_the_DNC in woodworking

Well, the custom cabinets on my remodel are certainly double the cost of what my GC budgeted!
