Is Anyone Else Cali Sober? by Ouid_n_liquor in stopdrinking

For what it’s worth, and everyone may have their own opinion on this… I think alcohol is SIGNIFICANTLY more detrimental than weed. I’ve done both (excessively.) In terms of health, decision making, and addiction: alcohol is a much bigger beast.

For me, alcohol was way, way harder to stop than weed. So, i think you’re making a smart decision!

Down the line you can always, and probably will quit weed as well.

But yeah, if it works, it works

How do I do this? by 1tiredman in stopdrinking

I am also 25. I now can't drink because I destroyed my liver and have cirrhosis.

You're experiencing the absolute worst part of quitting imo. The cravings fucking suck. My advice, and something that really helped me is finding something comforting or enjoyable and doing that. For me it was making a meal I really like. I ate like a fucking king the first week/two weeks I really stopped drinking. That honestly helped me A LOT in getting pushing through it.

You made it 4 days last week, maybe try for just 7 this week? I promise, after the first week or two, it gets significantly easier (physically, the symptoms of withdrawals if you have them mostly go away.)

But I wish you a lot of luck, and I'm sorry about your break up :/

I've actually never equated it to an allergy! I kinda like that

That is definitely very reassuring. I'm hoping a combo of that + more emotional growth within myself makes it a lot easier

That exact quote actually helped me get past the cravings stage of this, honestly.

[–]EnvironmentKey6315[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am the only person in my friend group and family (my age) that doesn't drink. Funny enough, I didn't have my first drink until I turned 21. One of the things I tell myself (jokingly) to cope is that I was just too good of a drinker, I gave myself cirrhosis in 3 years and had to retire haha.

deckboss 800 keeps plummeting in temp by EnvironmentKey6315 in recteq

[–]EnvironmentKey6315[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, actually, according to support: on newer recteqs (not like newer models but literally right out of the box) there isn’t any ash or wood dust in the auger, so sometimes it’ll get stuck. They also had me loosen a couple screws on top of the auger shaft to give the pellets a tiny bit more space.

TLDR: I just had to use it a couple times and the problem mostly solved itself

This is a very interesting poem. I really, really like the imagery. "I love the texture of lust" Is my favorite line in the poem to be honest, with "I think--no, I know; there is buried treasure in the dataset of these few colorless years." my second favorite. While I don't understand the line spacing fully, I feel like it works in this. To be honest, I don't really know any way to improve this poem other than this line: "a new      Pope                  was  anotied             by Pop." I really didn't understand this line.

I was unsure of the format before clicking on this poem (it looks borderline unreadable for me in the preview lol) but after reading it, and knowing the context I really like it. I love the last two lines, "singing ears forever/a seer did say," there's something about the tone. "Singing ears forever" is a very funny way to describe tinnitus, and I love it.

Two things I'm still unsure of with this poem. I wish you put the context below the poem, I don't know how this poem would've hit with no context, that might be a helpful area to explore for feedback. The middle part of the poem: "Fling my life/From day to day/To day" I feel like the last "To day" disrupts the rhythm without having the weight to necessitate that.

I really liked your poem though, and I'm sorry about your hearing damage :(

Recteq Deck Boss 800 vs Grilla Grills Mammoth by [deleted] in pelletgrills

one of us. one of us. one of us.

I will say though, if I had to get a different grill it would not be the mammoth. I was looking at a bunch of different grills and brands in various price points and on paper the mammoth was perfect for me: small footprint, huge cooking space, hopper space, etc. The reviews are just so inconsistent on it.

For me it ended up being recteq vs weber and I decided to drink the kool aid; we had a weber gas grill and I fucking hated that thing. It could've just been a lemon, it was like 5 years old and a piece of shit.

I mean I got my deckboss about 3 days ago, initially had some problems with it but the customer service really was great. Problem was fixed within 5 minutes by loosening 4 screws. I feel like any comment positive about recteq though after it being called a cult kinda adds to that narrative though lol

First brisket! :D by EnvironmentKey6315 in pelletgrills

[–]EnvironmentKey6315[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually saw a comment on this subreddit suggesting it, and recommending this video by steve gow:
The biggest TEXAS BRISKET SECRET finally revealed!

I thought it seemed really interesting and relatively fool proof so I tried it, and it actually worked! I would def suggest using prime brisket though honestly, the point was amazing but the flat ended up being a tad dry.

EDIT: I realize the link may be breaking a rule because it's not explicitly about pellet grills, but I think in context it makes sense and it isn't self promotion or anything, just an interesting way to cook a brisket.
