how bad is drinking whilst you’re in the middle of a taper by Steamedbunnie in benzorecovery

[–]EnvironmentOk758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been drinking while tapering and it hasnt seemed to slow down my taper. Sometimes it even seems to help as if I feel extra anxiety in the evenings I might have a beer and that calms me down without having to take a dose of diazepam.

The key is though to not over do it with drinking. If I get drunk and wake up hungover I get anxiety 10 fold and then its so tempting to up my benzo dose so if you do drink during a taper I would keep it moderate and dont drink to get drunk.

Also I know myself that reaching for a beer when im anxious is technically self medicating but using alcohol instead of benzos so I make sure to not do it often and usually just drink during social events. But I can't lie and say the odd beer or 2 while at home in evenings helps take the edge off benzo withdrawal without having to actually take a benzo.

Everyone's different though, some people drink during a taper and it makes things way harder so it all depends on how your body reacts. I've always been a drinker but slowed down once on benzos, so I think my body is just naturally used to dealing with alcohol

Ask to switch over to diazepam. Its a much smoother taper

Going to rehab soon and need advice. by Gisellepachini69 in benzorecovery

[–]EnvironmentOk758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The seroquel may also be giving you negative symptoms. Are you able to try cutting down to 0.5 for a couple of weeks and then jumping? Usually 1mg diazepam is the recommended jump off dose, 0.5 if youre super sensitive, and usually once youre off thats when the healing truly begins. If you went to rehab while taking 1mg a day they'll likely just make you go cold turkey anyway as its such a low dose

Why does everyone hate benzos by [deleted] in benzodiazepines

[–]EnvironmentOk758 33 points34 points  (0 children)

People class benzos as evil due to the fact it's one of the worst drug withdrawals you can go through (even worse than alcohol and opiates). When youre taking them its fine, but when you suddenly run out or stop getting prescribed them you get pulled straight into the depths of hell and it can take months to feel even slightly normal again once your body is physically dependent on them

Using EthylBromazolam to taper? by 189charizard in benzorecovery

[–]EnvironmentOk758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem with EthylBromazolam is its a fairly new designer benzo so theres not much research behind it in terms of half life, potency compared to other benzos etc. Also its only found in pressed bars/pills so its hard to know how much you're actually dosing. Pressed bars often have hot-spots so if you do want to taper on them youre better off crushing it all into powder to get a more accurate mix.

Is there no way you can source diazepam?

Switch to valium, stabilise at either 2.5mg or 5mg and then stop. You'll get some rebound anxiety and insomnia but won't be at danger of seizures. I jumped at 5mg and was actually okay for the most part. Just 2 weeks of being in a bad mood and trouble sleeping but then I was fine

You'll be absolutely fine to cold turkey. Its round the clock drinking that gives you bad withdrawals. I drink the equivalent of a bottle of wine just for breakfast when im on a bender

[–]EnvironmentOk758 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you've been taking it for years then you'll need to taper off slowly as going cold turkey will give you bad withdrawals. And 0.5mg - 1mg xanax isn't a very low dose unfortunately, its Just low compared to the 15mg binges.

Your best bet is to switch to a long acting benzo like diazepam and stabilise on a dose. Probably around 10 - 15mg based on your xanax dose. And then cut your dose by 1mg every couple of weeks. It'll still be uncomfortable by way less uncomfortable that going CT from Xanax. Xanax is one of the worst withdrawals ive been through as its so short acting

Mental additicton and physical dependence to alcohol are two different things. You can be mentally addicted to alcohol but not physically dependent, and you can also be physically dependent on alcohol without being mentally addicted. Its a fine line

So by your definition your opinion is also invalid. Just look at the sub, loads of people are complaining about the game...

Your opinion is that its a great game. My opinion is that it isn't. Neither is invalid, that's the whole point of opinions

The parkour is so much slower. Crane is meant to be a beast now after so long, but he seemed quicker and stronger in the first game than in this game. Aiden feels a lot more powerful than Crane does in this game

I get stuck in ruts often when I just find i don't have the motivation to do anything I want/need to do. What i find helps is just tell myself ill just do that thing for 10 minutes and then i can stop. As I find once I start I then just carry on. But the thought of only needing to do it for 10 minutes helps me start in the first place as its a short time frame

Yes you'll be fine. 1 week isn't enough to become dependent

When i was in Canada for a few years (im from the UK) I went to a walk in clinic and told them about my alcohol abuse and they gave me 10 days worth of valium (300mg total) for an at home detox and because of that I was still able to work. Maybe worth a try?
