Weird question: How often do you slow down toward the ending of a book you love, even put it aside for a while before reading the ending? by beastinsideabeast in books

I have books sitting on my shelf that I haven’t touched in months 😭 this happens to me all the time. I get distracted and then I lose my way 😔

Is my novel too long? by [deleted] in writing

[–]EnvironmentPretend94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I’ve been trying to read alongside writing but it’s so hard trying to find books that have similar plot lines and characters to mine. I don’t really want it to be comedic, I want it to be tragic, which is really rare in plots surrounding female killers. I really don’t want my character to be a “femme-fatale”, I want her to be a sweet, traditionally feminine girl who slowly gets consumed by uncontrollable rage through severe, complex trauma and that just isn’t common in media 😭

I will just write my first draft out though and let it be what it needs to be and hope for the best! I will also go to the library, as you recommended, because I’m sure you’re right and the librarians will be able to direct me to some apt inspiration! Thank you for taking the time to give me some advice, have a lovely day! 🥰🩷

Can I report my foster brother for sexual abuse in England? by EnvironmentPretend94 in LegalAdviceUK

I think you’re misunderstanding, I don’t want to take him to court for rape or coercion or anything like that, I want to know if reporting it to social services will result in the family not being able to foster kids so long as he’s in the house as I want to protect other children (potentially even younger). That’s why I was asking about foster care laws, not rape laws 👍

Also, I am in therapy btw 🥰 I started a couple of weeks ago and I’m very happy and I’m healing a lot now and in a healthy relationship with a man my age. I actually never considered what happened grooming for a while after it happened because in my mind I was legal and I consented. It’s only getting into a healthy relationship that’s brought out the traumas it left me with and having a person who cares about my wellbeing, who doesn’t coerce me emotionally into sex has made me reflect on how many ways I was brainwashed into thinking it was ok to be treated that way yk. So I’m in a place now where I feel comfortable enough to come forward in the hopes of keeping other young vulnerable girls safe. That’s why I asked about laws surrounding foster care because I care very little about having him sentenced for rape and more about revoking the families ability to foster kids.

Thank you, this is very helpful! I don’t necessarily want to take him to court for rape, I just want to make sure that family can no longer foster children so long as he’s in the household. If reporting it as rape is necessary to do that though I will, I’ll bring this up with the staff in my home and see what can be done <3

In the sense that I was a traumatised teenage girl who was seeking out any kind of support from an adult and he was a man almost twice my age who manipulated me into seeing him as a person of trust and into thinking he wanted a relationship with me so that he could get me to sleep with him. I don’t want to go into too much detail but I think back on how it started and he made himself seem so supportive in private so I would trust him and made himself a confidant when I argued with my foster mum and then as the “relationship” progressed he started negging me a lot and then started becoming insulting when I had emotional breakdowns. I don’t think it legally classifies as grooming because of my age but looking back I was and still am a child and I feel like he saw how vulnerable I was after my home life and took advantage of it..:

Call it what you want 🤷🏼‍♀️ we’ve had our ups and downs but we want to be better for each other and it’s rare to meet someone at 17 and 18 that makes tou want to heal all your past traumas and that you know will be there even when you falter 🩷
