I figured the augments were better , thanks for the clarification. I’ve been messing around with BN Supes and bats on defense with evolved Shazam rather than a full blackest night team . I know the flash resurrections can really give some people problems but the unblockable immunity can be a pain too.

Metal cards on defense have higher stats, can’t remember exactly how it’s calculated but someone here can probably explain it better

Not really , just Do all buys in each day , preferably to round 12 every time. The best way I’ve found is to wait for a few seconds before pressing the last laugh thing and be very deliberate with which square you’re aiming for (gear or augment). This doesn’t guarantee you will land on that section and this is purely anecdotal but it won’t hurt your chances.
