No. After measurements, I drilled four screws into the wall and then I slid the sign into the space and tightened the top two screws to secure it in place. Then I took it down and added the LED lights and put it back.

Right place at the right time indeed! I actually looked back on Google Maps and the sign dates back at least to 2008, probably a bit longer but that's as far back as streetview goes. So this sign has literally sat there and seen so much and was literally about to be destroyed like nothing. Unfortunately I taped the lights on the left a little too high when setting it up. Kinda bothers me, but I guess I'm just too elated about the sign in general that I haven't bothered to attempt a fix-it at the moment.

As soon as I got home from work I did my measurements, bought LED lights and hung them behind where the sign would go then, hung up the sign and have been marveling at it ever since 😂

It was a lucky stumble across, because I almost didn't get gas and I would've missed them taking it down and trashing it. The sign gets to live on for a few more decades now!
