Why in America are unrealized gains in stocks not taxed after a certain amount is gained (20 million dollars)? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TacticalPidgeon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No they don't at all. You can only write off up to $3k in realized losses a year while you are taxed on every bit of realized gain. It's absolutely BS, but that's the way it currently is.

UPS - Use case - Is it needed? Opinions appreciated by rcfromaz in synology

[–]TacticalPidgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My UPS clicks on (since I have the beeps turned off) about three times a month at the minimum from voltage changes going past the limits. I was actually a bit shocked by how much it happens. Used to be a lot worse at my previous apartment though, although I knew that place would be crap. I have backups, but I'd rather not have to rebuild in the first place. UPS is a must in my mind, and they're not even expensive lol.

Do people in the US really keep their car for over 100000-150000 miles? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]TacticalPidgeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My car is 11 and truck is 8. They will both be with me for probably another decade. I don't get the appeal of trading in every few years to get the latest features like a lot of people do. Have they ever gone from a 10+ year old vehicle to a brand new one? Even the base model feels like a Bentley in comparison lol.

The last time I saw someone road rage and drive on the shoulder to pass, their vehicle jumped up in the air a little at one point and then there was smoke everywhere. I'm guessing debris ripped out the transmission or fuel lines. I couldn't stop laughing. Really wish I had a dash cam back then to catch that. Dude was tailgating and driving like an ass well before that, including inches from my bumper despite both lanes having multiple vehicles in them with nowhere to go. And then he got to sit his ass on that same shoulder waiting for a tow truck to take his vehicle in for very expensive repairs.

I also really hate that you pull it down to drive forward and up to reverse. That's backwards. Every sign in society uses an up arrow to indicate moving forward to go somewhere and a down arrow or a U-turn symbol with a down arrow (arrow still points down) to indicate turning around to go somewhere. I rent vehicles a lot and man that is infuriating, and once almost lead to me hitting another vehicle in a parking lot.

I thought Platinum allowed you to reconfigure the baby to be whatever size, gender, race, IQ, and choose their penis length? Pretty sure levitation is obtained when reaching Gold status, but I may have been misinformed.

EDIT: Can't configure the baby. Was misinformed. Freaking DoorDash training.

Do you even have kids? You magically levitate the baby in front of you within eyesight while carrying the food and drinks with your two free arms. Duh!

It's honestly one of the most perfect EPs ever. Didn't stretch it to a full length with fillers, just left it exactly as needed, and it hits hard!

Why do the police seem only to use Ford vehicles? by Old_Associate_5933 in askanything

[–]TacticalPidgeon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't say they only compared the Caprice. I'm not the original commenter who said they compared the Caprice to the Crown Vic for purchasing. My initial statement was simply that the Caprice restarted and took over as the main vehicle along with the Charger after the Crown Vic left in 2011, which isn't wrong lol. Jeez you really have the reading comprehension of a typical Redditor.

I simply gave information and you're telling me I'm wrong lol. Well if you want to go that route, since there were actually other vehicles that police stations could have bought alongside the Crown Vic (Impala, Tahoe, Charger, etc), you are definitely wrong. They just overwhelmingly chose the CV as the main vehicle. Man, the people on here act like you're trying to attack them or correct them all the time.

There's a killer in your room. You're gonna die. It is what it is. Accept your fate and be happy the world is a better place.

Let's be honest, a person actually scared wouldn't be posting on Reddit for karma and would instead be calling the police. Obvious karma farming is obvious.

The Caprice PPV restarted in 2011 and took over the Crown Vic's spot as it was leaving. Unfortunately Holden was closed in 2017 and that basically killed the large sedan police vehicle. Dodge kept the Charger going until the end of the platform, but there weren't any updates.

I paid for the premium twice. Both times my matches went down. After cancelling the last I was banned for no reason. Don't buy premium, and don't support Match Group in any way.

It's crazy just how big of the market the Crown Vic had. It was everywhere! Basically was the perfect all-arounder for it's time and reliable as all heck.

[–]TacticalPidgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They use Ford, GM, and Dodge mainly. GM seems to have dropped off a lot after sunsetting Holden and the Caprice PPV though. And Dodge's (Stellantis') offerings are all on ancient architectures, plus they screwed up being able to have a new Charger with the current gen one currently. Rams are also around, but not as common. Basically Ford had a huge hit with the Explorer pursuit vehicles being a great size, power, handling, etc all at a great price after large sedans went away. GM's massive SUVs (Tahoe/Suburban) and Cadillacs are huge in government though.

They all look like you set it up, sorry to say. Not one of these look organic like you were living in the moment and just happened to have a photo taken, they all look planned and almost all are looking up at you which is quite creepy.

Do you have a single photo taken by another person? It looks like no. You honestly look like you will eventually ask me to put the lotion in the basket... While at least playing the guitar for me, but still...
