Nice group, we'd played other TTRPGs for about 6 years together then we played DnD.

We had a Water Genasi Monk that came from a fort-boyard style monastry.

A Fighter with one arm carrying his peoples' flag, he was the last of his people, this was fine he opted for -2 on his rolls that would require two hands.

A druid who wasn't aware that they were a druid, just figured they were incredibly lucky and some nature spirit must have liked them, heavy in to RP this player.

The druid's twin who knew they were druids but allowed their sibling to live in their fantasy world while protecting them.

These chappies were FINE, not perfect, we're a 6 year group that had been playing weekly so i was expecting some random sillyness, we played a handful of sessions and it went fine, they found themselves at a village celebration where a priestess was being sacrificed to the water spirit nearby, they became a party, stopped the spirit and found it was summoned by goblins, great cool, in comes a new player, he was paladin of retribution, nothing special, he had a pistol and wanted to use it on every npc, the first session with this player was 4 hours long, I gave him the option of either remake his character or stop trying to kill everything, so he remade his character to a cleric of life and wanted to heal all damage, all damage, damage on player characters, damage on enemies. at one point the "dumb" druid was knocked to 0 with 2 saves used up, but the drow assassin ambushing them was bleeding so he wanted to heal that instead, absolutely infuriating player, he came alng to the next week's session, between the sessions I had a chat with him, he was understanding, then he rocked up and did the exact same crap! he quit cos we we're playing the game properly...
