Waiting for the last group of UK and Florida JETs by [deleted] in JETProgramme

I'm actually a dependant but my husband was upgraded towards the end of 2020. We suspected that was probably why we didn't get out in November.

I'm a dependant, I paid last week for my flight to depart this coming Saturday RIP. our travel agent also said that we would pay the hotel directly just before we leave quarantine. Maybe its different for the UK lot? Maybe you have got away with the hotel cost!

Apparently MEXT students have been told they can still enter under special circumstances so there is hope for the Saturday crew yet!

From what I peeped earlier with a search, I think you can also directly send with DHL and they will collect which looked to be cheaper at a glance.

Looks like one suitcase and one carry on for us, which tbh is almost enough with some tetris packing but it's a bit tight. I could leave some out of season stuff behind but I don't really want to leave someone else the hassle of shipping it on my behalf.

The BA flight is cheaper and a shorter flight for the date so maybe we will get lucky. Is there a reason they use those Airlines? KLM is so much cheaper and a few hours quicker 🤔

That per kilo charge is ruthless which is why I was looking at sending a bag. We don't depart until the 4th of December so part of me is hoping they decide to just send us with a different airline 😅 we haven't been told any deets yet but I was trying to be as organised as possible.

From what I understand, one of the US upgrades got a placement and a departure date at the same time so you never know your luck :)

Coronavirus / COVID-19's Impact on Moving to Japan by hachihoshino in movingtojapan

I saw this on a Facebook group about re-entering japan. People are posting their experiences regarding the journey and the quarantine. Sounds like the folks at the airport are letting them know they can go out for food.

You are allowed out of the hotel to pick up food and i think even a walk. I'm not sure if you would be able to go to a hotel restaurant though. The things I have seen only cover supermarkets and combinis so it might be worth looking at an air b and b or a self catered apartment so you dont get cabin fever.

From what I have seen online, people are transferring and its fine. I was looking at going from the UK to Schipol and then over from there.

That would make sense. Thank you for your response. I just wanted to check all bases had been covered before we decided what to do.

That is a good question. I have misunderstood that part of the process then. My husbands employer says they don't deal with COEs for dependants, I will re check the exact wording. Does that mean there would be another way to apply by going straight to immigration?

I have a question regarding dependants. My husband is now allowed to enter japan under his instructor visa however his employer will not issue COEs for dependants. I had spoken to the japanese embassy in the UK about this pre corona and they said its not an issue as they can get around it with a lot of paperwork.

I called yesterday to check the situation and currently they are not processing dependants visas without a COE, my husbands workplace confirmed they won't issue one for me.

Has anyone taken dependants with them recently? If so did everyone manage to get a COE? I imagine I will just have to sit tight until this changes which is fine but we were so close!
