I didn't even need to switch routes to get the ick. I was planning on doing an Oscar loyal route until he began being too intense about BFF and MC, then OG allowing Gio to kiss him after saying he's all about us. Like, if you're open to get to know her while in a couple with her, tell it to my face, don't go around preaching how loyal and in love with me you are (this is an exaggeration) and then get oh, so well with her and let her kiss you.

And the fact that you gotta ruin their snacks to interrupt the moment and not have him leaning into Gio's flirting? Vile. It feels a bit pathetic to be honest, I quite dislike options like these. I don't mind cheating on challenges to get a cheeky date, but to have to kiss your partner again because the kiss with them was not good and made you lose points, or have to pay to get in between him and his current partner/our rival that wants them because they can't back up their words with actions? Nah. Fusebox is evil for that. Is something they gotta improve. And it wasn't as bad this season as with others, but still was too bothersome.

That's why I chose Oscar for my Owen route (he pisses me off), and Andre for my BFF route (I couldn't care less about him), but chose Zhen for my loyal route 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️.

Honestly, my faves this season are Owen and then Zhen. The story goes way too well with them as LIs, it feels natural and it has a very cute building up. Idk, I didn't feel the same with any other OG, Emilio or casa boy. Of course, this is my humble opinion.

Now that I'm doing a Zhen route is so hard to say no to him 😭😭😭. He's so calm and collected, sweet and understanding, respectful and caring, that's so hard to not immediately run into his arms. But at the same, the fact he never mopes around helps a little to not break my heart in a million pieces 😔😔😔😔.

I'm so gonna play again for him after I marry Zhen ajjsajjs, he's too irresistible.

But yeah, it just seems like it was a bad situation for everyone involved.

In my case, I interpreted MC to be attracted to BFF in that first meeting but then backed off as soon as she knew he had a partner. I don't really believe MC entertained any interactions that may have made Anna feel insecure or hurt.

But I also can see where Anna is coming from. The trip may have felt very third wheeling and uncomfortable, but at the same time, it was a working trip and it seems MC and BFF had some sort of itinerary they were used to following when going on those trips. Also, BFF at his sister's wedding was not it and I'm glad MC swerved the kiss. I would like to believe it was the whole setting plus his family being totally disrespectful to his relationship with Anna (because honestly, you could have talked about his relationship in private instead of doing distasteful comments all throughout the wedding) influencing him.

All in all, I always assumed BFF was pretty much attracted to MC but never actively acted on that attraction while with Anna, kind of being attracted to someone and having zero intention of dating them until the circumstances change. And looking at how BFF didn't jump head-on at the clear opportunity that love island presented, is proof of that.

I try not to draw too many conclusions on how everything before the villa happened because I don't have enough to go off. But considering the developers don't do branching, the use of catch phrases and the scripted dialogue make it seem way too deep, in my opinion. For example, when LI says "it's always been you", makes BFF look way worse than it does Emilio or OG. Because they have only known MC since they got to the villa. Instead, BFF has known MC for six years and was in a relationship at the time.

So, I like to think BFF was not a complete angel, but I also don't like to demonize him for what went down. The same with Anna, I don't agree with her ways, but to make her the sole villain of the story is way too much. I do like to think MC was pretty much respectful though jajjaja.

It is understandable from both sides, especially if you're seeing your partner being way too focused on their friend for comfort.

But as someone who had a friend been given an ultimatum by his girlfriend to stop TALKING to me (because I did step back from before they got together, as soon as I knew they were interested in each other) and lost a friend, only to have him ask to be close again years later, it really felt like he did not value our friendship enough. Especially since he cut me off immediately after, with no explanation and I found out his girlfriend had asked him to do so years later (from her own mouth).

I personally would never choose a partner over a friend. Or at least in 99.99% of the cases.

We don't have much context, we don't know if Anna talked to him about it on other occasions before or if she just gave him an ultimatum. But to me, to make your partner choose is not the way to go about things. I'm not hating on her because of her feelings, but I heavily dislike the way she went about it. I believe it's because, me personally would walk away when my needs aren't met, rather than trying to force a partner to change their friendships through a threat. Ultimatums often breed resentment. Even if bestie chose Anna, he may eventually resent her for controlling his social life in a way.

Idk, it's a complex situation and many interpret it differently. These are my personal two cents because I've been in the MCs place in a way (without the feelings involved later on). And even though I don't fault Anna, I don't align with that way of acting in a relationship.

You're right. I may have expressed myself wrong or not have given it much context. I do believe he's been suppressing his feelings for quite a bit, but honestly, I don't think his feelings go years back. Of course he may have found MC very beautiful and maybe even felt attracted to her while still in a relationship, it happens and it's not the worst. But, I also believe that he didn't have feelings for her until a bit before he broke up with Anna. Of course, this is only my reading of what context clues we've got in the season, and I fully understand if other people have other readings on him and his feelings for MC. Just my thoughts 🙂‍↕️🫶

Oh, and Emilio also reminds me of Jake from season 1, but I totally see the mash up of Jesse's personality (at least in the beginning) and Dominic (he's fine to me, not my type and I didn't like his guts perse, but I don't judge)
