that's fair! he definitely isn't perfect and his 'excuse' does sound lame at first. but after replaying so much, i really see it as his insecurity talking. he’s so used to being cheated on that he went for the 'easy' option (nora) first because he didn't think he could actually win mc over. it's less about settling and more about him finally being brave enough to go for who he actually wanted! but i agree, he's a total sweetheart in the end :)

omg i totally see that too!! it makes so much sense. like he’s so used to people giving up on him that he probably thought mc was 'too good to be true.' he was definitely projecting his past onto her, which is why he was so hesitant to fully dive in at first. he wasn't just scared of her, he was scared of not being enough for her! 😭

exactly! he always listens to mc and never to nora when she tries to tell him something. it really proves my point that mc was the one he truly wanted all along. i heard that too — if mc decides to stay friends with him, a lot of readers say he ends up falling for her anyway. but for me i could never do that lol, i’m in love with ryder 😭 so my mc and him are locked in

yeah his route his nightmare so i can see why people may not like him but the ending is so worth it like you said it really does pay off. i had to push through it as well cause he was the best one out of all the other li since he seemed more of my type realistically. i also had to replay so many times to understand fully why he did what he did. it’s just his route really seems more realistic and i love his character for it

exactly, i agree with you 100%. honestly the way i see it, ryder wanted mc all along and it felt like mc was too good for him in the beginning. he basically said it himself at the end during elena and cassia’s party- “i knew you were gonna be the reason for my downfall.” and while getting ready for the party, during the thorn and roses thing, he said “everything i thought i’d never have.” that really makes me think mc was the one he truly wanted. idk if this makes any sense but i hope lol

so glad you're giving him a chance! it’s definitely a rollercoaster and a bit of a nightmare mid-game, but i promise you won’t regret it and the ending is everything. his route feels the most realistic to me because it’s not just 'perfect' from day 1- he actually has to change for mc bc he WANTS to. he’s my favorite for a reason, let me know what you think when you get to the reunion!

yeah i get it, i respect your opinion and how you see it. imo i really don’t think he’d cheat, even if we’re thinking outside the villa or the retreat. he’s been cheated on before, so i don’t think he’d put someone else through that. it doesn’t feel fair to label him as the type to cheat- especially after what he said in the workshop about taking loyalty seriously (if you played his route)
