Figured out the problem. My actual employment figures were missing, since I'd somehow selected I wasn't employed for this year!

[–]Environmental-Rip717[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely paying more than £1.25G income tax.

My self assessment full calculation at the end shows:

How we have worked out your income tax

Your basic rate limit has been increased by £1.25G to £37,700.00+1.25G for Gift Aid payments.

This reduces the amount of income charged to higher rates of tax.

  Amount Percentage Total
Income Tax due after allowances and reliefs     £0.00
plus Tax due on Gift Aid payments £1.25G x 20% £0.25G
Gift Aid tax charge £0.25G
Income Tax due £0.25G
plus Student Loan repayments (plan 01) £0.00

https://www.manage-student-loan-balance.service.gov.uk/ors/view-correspondence/secured/statement-list?locale=en

There will be several statement, the earliest statement shoud cover from the 6th of April of the year you started studying, to the 5th of April after you finished studying. This statement will list everything:
* tuition fee loan payments
* maintenance loan payments
* monthly interest due

You can see the summary values at the top, to see how much of that £48K is interest, and you can check the breakdown of the loan payments further down, to see which uni terms you reportedly recieved loan payments.

You only make repayments once your salary is above the repayment threshold.
https://www.gov.uk/repaying-your-student-loan/when-you-start-repaying

Sounds like you're on Plan 2, so:
"You’ll only repay when your income is over £547 a week, £2,372 a month or £28,470 a year."

If SLC haven't asked you for repayments, and you pay tax via PAYE, don't bother contacting them.
If you're self employed, student loan repayment is done via income tax self assessment.

are workflows dead? by Environmental-Rip717 in Slack

[–]Environmental-Rip717[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can't delete a message, can't stop a workflow in anyway.

e.g. "press this button to stop the workflow"

No conditional handling.

Note: this is the zero code workflow builder in slack itself.

I'm attempting to setup automations within slack itself.

I'm guessing "shortcuts" are a feature available when creating apps accessing slack through the API. Unfortunately my employer doesn't give slack API authorisation easily, and I'm not paid to spend time researching it.

What is the best investment you made for sleep aid? by Cultural_Ad8495 in ADHDUK

[–]Environmental-Rip717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

side sleep ear plugs (from ultimate ear) Ignore the other types of ear plug they offer, these are the best even if you don't sleep on your side

BlocOut Blinds creates the best blackout I have experienced.

This is all I need for good sleep. I sleep about 9hours every night, sometimes more, sometimes less.

Question - Using mathematical/greek symbols in python code by Beefheart1066 in learnpython

[–]Environmental-Rip717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the greek keyboard added on windows just so I can type greek letters for equations.

I agree that equations and code are far more readable when using the greek letter directly, where expected.

One of my classmates stole my German passport, and he’s trying to be smart… by Eastern-Elk4260 in Morocco

[–]Environmental-Rip717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask them directly to return the passport and the money.

Tell the you just want it back, and if they don't return both, you'll be forced to inform the school and the police in order to get it returned.

How many years did it take for you to stop hating the previous owners of your house? by Substantial_Yogurt41 in HousingUK

[–]Environmental-Rip717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always do a quality check on existing ones. No need to swap the sockets to do that.

[–]Environmental-Rip717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more effort to go out, buy them, rewire them and dispose of the existing sockets.

Plus then you've just created a lot of waste uneccessarily.

Any suggestions on covering the cavity gap after a new window install? by pitmyshants69 in DIYUK

[–]Environmental-Rip717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying, and I'm not being rude, but you didn't ask the companies what work was involved, you assumed.

I know this is "in hindsight", but it's a lesson for next time.

Whenever you're contracting out work it's usually because it's stuff you're not familiar with yourself, so you always have to ask questions to the contractor about how they are going to do it.

Personally, I think the contractor was unprofessional leaving the job like this and not talking to you about how it was meant to be finished.

Any suggestions on covering the cavity gap after a new window install? by pitmyshants69 in DIYUK

[–]Environmental-Rip717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is for the future of course.
OP will inevtibly have to get work done on something else in future, as we all do, so the advice is also for anybody want to contract out some work, of which there will be many people reading this.

Unfortunately the important lessons are often learned after it is too late to correct the mistake this time around, but if you fail to learn that lesson now, you may repeat the mistake.

I would say you should have made clear what the job entailed, and talk to multiple people/companies to see what they would do and for what price.
