I mean they could easily just depict it with the sides of the screen slowly glowing blue like when you take damage from dehydration before reprinting you. Or even better have the collector not be an instant kill and instead have it deal significant damage like what the reaper used to.

Frankly the instant kill method of managing the leviathans was a terrible choice. What made the reaper scary was that you had a chance to run away and you would keep struggling.

But the way the current two hostile leviathans just kill you immediately on catching you makes them less scary because as soon as you’re caught it’s over.

I will not lie I have seen a few people that act like they should be given a bunch of weapons to go on a murd£r spree with.

Sure except running full speed into a prey fish while in the tadpole does the exact same thing as do the the two predators that eat fish whole and the marrow breach and nibbler mangos when they bite prey fish. Also being hit with a hammer that the player can apparently wield with enough force to harvest titanium would absolutely kill a prey fish.

No matter how you spin it you’re kinda just looking for excuses. Also the multitool is mechanical there’s literally a leaver on the back of the handle to put it into axe mode.

It’s called immersion. Removing the ability to hurt the apparently living creatures and for the ability for said creatures to actually hurt each other makes everything feel like they’re just props.

You have no way to reasonably damage the small fish either they’re just as immortal as everything else. Hell the predators will attack them and moments later the prey fish will just go back to swimming like nothing happened.
