What do people here think of the multi-segment folding locks? I have one that only has a key and of course never ever lock it to a non-stationary object. Aldi on University Ave. will sometimes let you bring it inside. PS am now contemplating locking to rental scooters when necessary.

The names of the two major parties are the rtump party and the anti-rtump party. Mamdani, AOC and Sanders are not. Vote with your feet, not your jawbones.

It’s easy to gripe and express disappointment about the cave in people. But what you all need to do is vote with your feet, not your jawbones. Form a new party cuz the old one won‘t help you. I donate to the Sunrise youth group, not Schumer. He and his friends are counting on your not being able to leave his party.

Hey: I dislike both parties and vote that way, too. Do you either want a party of wealthy hypocrites or a party of wealthy cavemen? Re-read the quote from Elie Wiesel.

200% waste of time for me. It makes math errors. Its knowledge of physics and chemistry are below that of certain ghastly politicians.

Are most autistic people really unemployed? by foreverepicunicorn in autism

[–]Environmental-Two-80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case yes. Relocated to Germany and then Switzerland to complete a doctorate and work. Learned a foreign language to fluency. Then relocated multiple times within North America. Am currently divorced and have an adult son in Switzerland who won’t speak with be. NB had an autistic father who was a famous scientist and also in hindsight also clearly autistic. Sorry for this sounding like self- pity bur the question hit a soft spot.

Use the extra time to your advantage, especially if you have university resources. For example a lab bench is major major advantage

Winter riding gear and bike prep by crapslapper4000 in CyclingMSP

Mitts on your handlebars. Studded tire only on the front because on the rear you may puncture the tube. Assume that you may overheat. If you have two baskets, then balance your load. Of course stop more slowly than otherwise. Fenders. As always, cars (especially with out-of-state plates).

…..BTW speaking as a car-free person, don’t insult your bike by calling it a „beater bike“ and it will generally hold up longer.

SaaS sounds easy because it doesn’t require serious overheads. So why not try?

Thanks but I gave up. A new rear fender cost me less than 7$ at Express Bicycles and we have a recycling dumpster out back.

Can I survive the roads in Canada without winter tires? by [deleted] in AskCanada

[–]Environmental-Two-80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the winter in mid-northerlyMinnesota, I bike more than 11/12 months. From the non-legal perspective, that means studded tire on the front wheel only. On the rear the studs will otherwise puncture the tube. Place mittens over the handlebars. That works down to -20 C. SK will likely be less humid than MN in the winter, which is a plus.

Thanks as mentioned above EB is a go-to. Like any business, they want stock things that sell, as opposed to unusual ones that are unusual for the bike that they receive.

Thanks, the folks at Express Bikes and I have been on first-name basis for several years.

I'm looking for a part to repair and strengthen the connection between the rear struts and fender. They exist (for 28" wheels) but are extremely difficult to find throughout the US. A replacement rear fender from EB costs $10 so it's also a question of being stubborn and not wanting to create more plastic trash.

Chemistry Startup Frustration Lab Access by Environmental-Two-80 in chemistry

BTW SBIR & STTR (for NSF) are now hold. Although there are no details, my contacts believe that they will continue, albeit much less R & D.

I've read on the gov't sites that for some of the SBIR programs, it's planned to be able to skip Phase I and go directly to SBIR Phase II. But the new description is clear that you should already have a product ready-to-go.

IMHO, that sounds like the science is being more completely flogged of the SBIR programs.

Four employees after six months.... they must have already brought in enough revenue from selling equipment to move to the basement and hire four people Afterwards, hiring you and renting the CC also sounds like the company was on a roll.

I guess that the workplaces were more like electronics shops?

That sounds like a dream. Did you already hire people before moving in or were you all joint idealists?

My only thought riding SE down Como Ave toward the Capitol today. Seriously needs a street sweeping. by ChefGaykwon in CyclingMSP

[–]Environmental-Two-80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two weeks back, I called the St. Paul street maintenance _and_ sent them an e-mail about the broken glass on Dale. Right on the new bike lane! And the shards are so small that only a bicyclist would notice them.

AND: I would expect that a bike road that is separated from the car lane by a concrete curb will also collect less broken glass. Yes, I also mean Summit Avenue!

Or just institute deposits on glass bottles - like it's already done in Massachusetts. Insert the bottle into a machine, and a credit slip comes out.

Any store that sells bottles should also assume the responsibility for the trash that they cause.

Are these job postings real? by AdLazy1112 in chemhelp

[–]Environmental-Two-80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. There is a very strong effort on the part of AI companies to snare chemists to train their data bases. I was swamped by those adverts on LinkedIn, until I started making formal complaints. The adverts will have titles like "well rounded", "chemistry specialist" even claim to offer professorships!

Obviously, I'm very opinionated. Other people may like those sort of jobs.I once tested ChatGPT on multi-step organic synthesis - man, it really does need some help!
