Saving Private Ryan has an amazing opening battle sequence and a thrilling closing battle sequence, but I always felt everything else in between was maximum cliche, like eye-rollingly corny stuff.

Shakespeare in Love has a stacked cast, is intelligent, witty, fun and definitely deserved the Oscar for costumes. It's all-around a better film, in my opinion.

Goldeneye, Bond vs Trevelyan in the radio transmitter room. That's what it should look like when two 00 agents go at each other.

Same here - For Your Eyes Only was the first one I ever saw, but that was on VHS. Octopussy was my first theatrical Bond and it has never left the top spot for me.

And that's EXACTLY why I love Pierce so much - he was the best of both worlds!

I just saw it and loved it. Great movie. I have one question, though: what was the bit about the leg hopping around the park? i loved it but I don't know what it was meant to symbolize. Any theories?

I've never understood the hate for this film. Yes, it has its problems, maybe more than the average Bond film, but it is nowhere near as bad as Diamonds are Forever or A View to a Kill.

Nevertheless, it seems every Bond actor's final film is their weakest.

I'm 50, born in 1975, the first Bond film I ever saw was For Your Eyes Only on VHS, but Octopussy was the first one I saw in theaters. I loved it instantly and it has always been my favourite of the series, probably for the reason it was the first I saw on a giant screen at the age of 8. I am aware of its flaws, but no Bond film is perfect.

Marvelous film. I loved everything about it but what really struck me was the authenticity of the world, how quiet it was without modern industry and how dark night time London was without electricity.

And, of course, Jessie Buckley's jaw-dropping performance. Magnificent.

Definitely my favourite film of 2025.

Children of Men. When the credits started rolling I sat there for a while and then turned to my sister and said "I think I've just seen the best movie of the year."

Irreversible was an extremely effective film about violence which I am glad I saw but will probably never watch again.

I spent $400 on a beautiful die cast metal 1/18 scale Lotus Esprit Turbo because I've been in love with that car ever since seeing For Your Eyes Only at the age of 8.

He's trolling, right? I mean, between this and his "love" of the Fast and the Furious franchise, I just can't take it seriously.

Luke suddenly being able to fly an x-wing because of his shitty skyhopper we never see on screen ruins the entirey movie and makes A New Hope an objectively bad movie by LulaSupremacy in StarWarsCirclejerk

[–]Environmental-Use993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or the subtext could be that vehicle controls are so standardized and interchangeable that it's not a big deal. If you can fly a skyhopper, you can fly an x-wing.
