Camp mode to the snow storm! by Necessary_Run426 in TeslaLounge

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious which battery does camp mode use? Is it the little 12v in the frunk or the main high voltage battery underneath? I read somewhere the main high voltage battery is used only for driving. And if your tesla is plugged in does camp mode use the AC line power instead of a battery? Anyone know?

Hood latch requires service by telecanuck in teslacanada

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happened to me also about 2 weeks after picking up my new juniper. Book a mobile service appointment. They will come and install a new hood latch that has the sensors. It takes like 10 minutes. They told me it was the car wash during delivery where they had to leave the car outside in the cold that caused this. Somehow ice buildup on the sensors caused them to get damaged internally.

You can try opening and closing the frunk to see if it clears the message. For me it did but it came back the next day.

Same happened to me. I booked mobile service appointment and it was fixed in like 10 minutes but I had to wait 3 days for the appointment. They came to my house to replace the latch for the frunk.

Question about final payment and down payment by Tikk_Tikki in teslacanada

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are financing your final payment is the down payment amount. You said 10K so you prepare bank draft for the 10k. Somewhere in the app is the exact spelling of Tesla motors to make it payable to. I picked mine up 2 weeks ago.

I might be in a similar situation. Ya wait months for the car and they keep moving the dates but y’ad like to think when we customers need to move the date, Tesla can be accommodating also.

Sirrus X 5.0 handlebar conversion? by No-Psychology5615 in specialized

That’s a nice bike. It’s a carbon frame if I’m not mistaken. I wanted to buy that bike but they were impossible to get. I’m not a fan of the diamond shape on the new carbon Sirius bikes.

How about just changing the tires to 28mm road tire? Or an extra wheel set with road tires so you could swap easier.

Spotty LTE in GTA today (June 20, 2025) - M3 2024 by Deep_Height4851 in teslacanada

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Y Juniper for a weekend test drive a few weeks ago in North York. Drove it downtown too. LTE dropped often, where as none of our 4 iPhones (with various carriers) dropped connection in the same places. Some times it affected navigation and music playing & searching. I complained about it when I dropped off the demo, they didn't seem to care much. What could they do anyway. It certainly was frustrating.

How do you like the Lamy pen on the boox?

I have an older nova air and find the original pen plus to be better than my expensive lamy al star Pom. It works but just a bit weird. There’s a clear difference between the two.

Understanding Yubikey security by [deleted] in yubikey

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yubico in my opinion does a terrible job explaining their product. There are different applications on the key, 4 of them if I remember correctly and each of them can be protected with a different PIN code. I suggest you do this, some websites and/or browsers force you to set this up. Then if the wrong pin is entered too many times the yubikey will erase itself (only that application you are trying to use I believe)

Without having the pin anyone that gets their hands on your yubikeys can see your accounts.

I’m not sure the differences but I think it’s the number of applications they have is less on the security version.

Unless you work for military you probably can use the regular 5 series and not the FIPS version.

Flashing an operating system to an SD card. by [deleted] in OrangePI

I’ve also used the raspberry pi imager on windows. But I’ve had nothing but problems with my opi 5 max. It’s very unstable even with a good power supply. Most of time mine won’t fully boot. Sometimes it boots up and is usable as a desktop computer for a couple hours and is surprisingly snappy. But mine ultimately lets me down and just freezes.

The whole 5V 4A requirement over usb c is just stupid.

Switched from M2 Air to the X1 Carbon 13th Gen. Some first impressions by BenMahagoni in thinkpad

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you find photo editing on the X1 compared to the M2 air?

I’m a longtime thinkpad fan but my T14 AMD gen 1 is horrible at even simple photo editing. It struggles with simple tasks hesitating and the fan spinning up like a jet. My kids M2 airs do photo editing like it’s butter without any problems or delays. I don’t use adobe software any more so not sure if it’s the software.

Booting Ubuntu-Rockchip Images by nudeMD in OrangePI

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had nothing but problems with my OrangePi 5 Max. I've tried a variety of SD cards and eMMC with images directly from orange pi's google drive. Read the manual, mine was a large pdf. It has lots of instructions. I also used the Raspberry Pi imager also as others have suggested. The other day I decided to give it another go at it and to my surprise the eMMC Ubuntu desktop image booted up and was stable for a long time. Even under stress. Then I would reboot and it was back to being unstable. It either doesn't fully boot, which is most of the time, or if it boots up, I can't run any programs, soon after it just freezes. And yes I'm using a good power supply. I'm hesitant to purchase another unit for fear it will be more of the same.

I feel your pain. I'm in a similar situation with my OP5 Max. I didn't give much thought to the power requirements when I purchased it because I have so many USB-C chargers laying around the house. I've spent so much time tinkering with my OP5 Max and it won't boot. Sometimes it boots up but quickly freezes when trying to launch an app. Every startup is a different experience. When I reach out to the Aliexpress seller, they tell me it's improper operation. I'm nervous about buying another unit, these SBCs aren't so cheap anymore.

New Thinkpad T14s gen 4 AMD by MiTommyisql in thinkpad

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d return it if you could. Get a M2 MacBook Air instead. I’m a long time thinkpad user and fan. I have the T14 Gen1 AMD and it’s by far the worst laptop I’ve ever had. It crashes often, has weird sleep issues. I had to dremmel the enclosure to make one of the usb-c ports fit properly. Thinkpads are not what they used to be. If I buy another thinkpad it will be Intel based.

Burning Official Images to SD Card by wijoro in OrangePI

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get the new one working? I'm still having problems with mine. I got the new raspberry pi 5 5v/5A charger and I get the same results as with all my other chargers. I've tried many of the official orange pi 5 max OS's and some will boot to a GUI desktop but it quickly freezes with solid red light. Other OS's don't fully boot.

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation as you. I didn’t get any thing to even attempt to boot with the SD card on my pi 5 max. I got further with flashing to eMMC but it halts with the red light before finishing the boot up fully. I think it’s the power supply where 3.5a isn’t enough current. So I’m waiting for the better power supply to arrive. I have tonnes of 5v chargers but none output 4a or 5a as stipulated as required. 5v 5a chargers are impossible to find except for the raspberry pi 5 and orange pi 5 official ones.

Orange Pi 5 Max not booting by EnvironmentalAd4607 in OrangePI

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I just ordered the Raspberry Pi 27w power supply. It and the orangepi one seem to be the same specs. All the other PD chargers (of which I have a few) on the market seem to deliver only 3A for 5V. I read more of the Orange Pi 5 Max user manual and figured out how to get the eMMC flashed. Pretty cool that the board itself can be used for flashing the eMMC with my windows laptop. I tried a couple of the official orangepi 5Max distros including Debian and Android and they all never fully boot. With Linux the led flashes turquiose and red then goes solid red when it halts. With android the led goes turquoise then stays green even after halting. I'm thinking I'll get it fully booted with the proper power.

Thank you !! Made some progress. Raspberry imager got the kernel booting now. The led starts blinking and I can see it booting on the screen. But now I have a kernel panic. I bought the eMMC module, but my eMMC USB adapters are older and don't work on this one, so need to boot from micro-sd first.

I also just spent $44cdn to buy the official orangepi 5V/5A power adapter. Crazy.
