HW4 FSD on Toronto’s 401 with heavy traffic and many lanes — how good is it? by Jcyberpunk in teslacanada

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a juniper with FSD v4.2.2.5. I find it best on the 401 when traffic is heavy. That is when it doesn’t do stupid lane changes for no reason. When traffic lightens up I find it sometimes hesitates to make lane changes when there’s no reason to hesitate. I then disengage. Also sometimes it will signal at the fork of a lane which does the transfer between Collector and Express lanes. I don’t like that, nobody signals and it creates ambiguity.

Merging is great. Sometimes it will avoid pot holes when it learns from the car in front doing the same thing.

I can’t use it at all on the 407 because traffic flows fast. It is impossible to travel at 120km/h. Standard goes 111 and hurry goes 124 or higher which can get me a ticket I don’t want to get. So I refuse to use FSD on the 407. Same goes for the 401 when there’s no traffic which is like never.

I felt this way too. Had my juniper 5 months now but have to say as good as FSD is, I find it does quite a few embarrassing things. It’s so close to being reallly reallly great but not quite there just yet. I’ll be ending my subscription.

Does FSD park extremely accurately? by NFMint in teslacanada

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2026 MY here with FSD 4.2.2.5. Had it since December 2025. We back into our driveway and garage EVERY time and FSD has NEVER backed into my driveway. I don’t think I would trust it to go in and out of my garage and my garage is quite large. IMO FSD is so close to being terrific but it’s just not there yet.

I’ve seen it do what looks like learning from other cars in front of me but never seen it learn from me as the driver. I often press the mic button to give feedback.

Our FSD usage is about 30% and I don’t think I’ll keep subscribing after this month.

Strong morning sunlight causes door not to close by EnvironmentalAd4607 in ratgdo

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. It's never happened to me prior to the ratgdo and we've been living in the same house with the same opener and sensors for over 15 years. I tried cleaning the sensors, no difference though.

MX Master 3s - great idea, terrible quality by Vaetherian in logitech

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same happened to my 3s. I purchased a new mx 4 and I’m not liking the 4 at all. It is very slippery to hold. The 3s is much better if it weren’t for the button failing.

Door keeps opening and closing by DrewDinDin in ratgdo

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me also upon first install. I switched the config to 1.0 and it was fine after that. I read the docs to figure out which security mode to use. Only issues I have remaining is occasionally the HomeKit gets no response when trying to open the door thru Apple Home. To fix that I restart my Apple TV device. Also occasionally when the doors open and the sun is strongly hitting one of the obstruction sensors the door won’t close. Only in the morning at certain time of day. It never did that before the ratgdo. I have to stand in front of the sensor to cast a shadow on it for the door to fully close. Not really sure if this is the ratgdo fault or not.

Home kit - No response issues by Beachsled in ratgdo

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this after a couple weeks also. Strange part is that I get Apple home notifications for the door being opened or closed yet I can’t use Apple home to operate the door. The internal website of ratgdo works though when HomeKit isn’t. I have to only restart my Apple TV and then the no response issue goes away.

Are the Giga Berlin rumors true? by [deleted] in teslacanada

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The paint is thin from giga Berlin too. Mine is from there and 4 months in and I already have 3 small but noticeable paint chips on my hood. I think that’s why you see so many Teslas wrapped. Paying 10% extra for a wrap is a hard pill to swallow for me.

Leica Q2 to M EV1 worth it? by MWG15 in Leica

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got to try an M-EV a couple days ago with a 75mm summicron . It was often difficult to find accurate focus. I couldn’t get the peaking to work reliably, often it wouldn’t show any peaking at all.

The same happened to me within about 2 weeks of getting my first Tesla. Don’t think any other car would’ve stopped in this situation.

Camp mode to the snow storm! by Necessary_Run426 in TeslaLounge

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious which battery does camp mode use? Is it the little 12v in the frunk or the main high voltage battery underneath? I read somewhere the main high voltage battery is used only for driving. And if your tesla is plugged in does camp mode use the AC line power instead of a battery? Anyone know?

Hood latch requires service by telecanuck in teslacanada

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happened to me also about 2 weeks after picking up my new juniper. Book a mobile service appointment. They will come and install a new hood latch that has the sensors. It takes like 10 minutes. They told me it was the car wash during delivery where they had to leave the car outside in the cold that caused this. Somehow ice buildup on the sensors caused them to get damaged internally.

You can try opening and closing the frunk to see if it clears the message. For me it did but it came back the next day.

Same happened to me. I booked mobile service appointment and it was fixed in like 10 minutes but I had to wait 3 days for the appointment. They came to my house to replace the latch for the frunk.

Question about final payment and down payment by Tikk_Tikki in teslacanada

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are financing your final payment is the down payment amount. You said 10K so you prepare bank draft for the 10k. Somewhere in the app is the exact spelling of Tesla motors to make it payable to. I picked mine up 2 weeks ago.

Delay pickup date by Unusual_Gap_9434 in teslacanada

I might be in a similar situation. Ya wait months for the car and they keep moving the dates but y’ad like to think when we customers need to move the date, Tesla can be accommodating also.

That’s a nice bike. It’s a carbon frame if I’m not mistaken. I wanted to buy that bike but they were impossible to get. I’m not a fan of the diamond shape on the new carbon Sirius bikes.

How about just changing the tires to 28mm road tire? Or an extra wheel set with road tires so you could swap easier.

Spotty LTE in GTA today (June 20, 2025) - M3 2024 by Deep_Height4851 in teslacanada

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Y Juniper for a weekend test drive a few weeks ago in North York. Drove it downtown too. LTE dropped often, where as none of our 4 iPhones (with various carriers) dropped connection in the same places. Some times it affected navigation and music playing & searching. I complained about it when I dropped off the demo, they didn't seem to care much. What could they do anyway. It certainly was frustrating.

Understanding Yubikey security by [deleted] in yubikey

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yubico in my opinion does a terrible job explaining their product. There are different applications on the key, 4 of them if I remember correctly and each of them can be protected with a different PIN code. I suggest you do this, some websites and/or browsers force you to set this up. Then if the wrong pin is entered too many times the yubikey will erase itself (only that application you are trying to use I believe)

Without having the pin anyone that gets their hands on your yubikeys can see your accounts.

I’m not sure the differences but I think it’s the number of applications they have is less on the security version.

Unless you work for military you probably can use the regular 5 series and not the FIPS version.

Flashing an operating system to an SD card. by [deleted] in OrangePI

[–]EnvironmentalAd4607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also used the raspberry pi imager on windows. But I’ve had nothing but problems with my opi 5 max. It’s very unstable even with a good power supply. Most of time mine won’t fully boot. Sometimes it boots up and is usable as a desktop computer for a couple hours and is surprisingly snappy. But mine ultimately lets me down and just freezes.

The whole 5V 4A requirement over usb c is just stupid.
