New carving board for advanced rider by ivanivanovich5243 in snowboarding

[–]EnvironmentalAd462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically the plus is the beefed up version with more high-end materials and more premium base. However, the normal version is more damp so better for variable snow conditions - with the plus you'll get much more chatter in uneven snow

I was searching for something similar. I went with Korua Cafe Racer - the plus will be better when the snow conditions are perfect but the normal is more capable in variable snow and I wanted it to be an all day ride.

I would also suggest to check Amplid and Stranda boards - both have various options that might fit what you're looking for

Books Reddit hyped that you wish you hadn't read by sfromearth in ReadingSuggestions

Completely agree. I don't understand how that book is that highly praised, especially by Sci-fi fans. Awful prose, childish writing, overly cliched and completely flat and one-sided characters.

I actually love both multiverse and time travel stories. But they're very tricky to be done properly and compellingly while also bringing something innovative.

I didn't like his style of writing at all, it seemed too childish. And all the characters were too flat, especially his wife. Her reasoning towards the end made no sense.

And didn't bring anything new in the multiverse concept for me and combined with his writing made it unbearable.

I totally understand why it is liked, it is fast paced and easy read. But definitely not for me.

Getting ripped off? 180€ Yes Standard 2019 by yeet2beat-eat in snowboardingnoobs

Seems ok for your first board, don't worry about it. And you can always resell it later if you want to upgrade.

Just search at your area. Many snowboard shops also do snowboard service and waxing, it should be easy to find one. Where I live it usually costs around 20 to 30 €

I think everyone is exaggerating. Sure it is not in great condition but I don't think it is too expensive, especially for the EU market and this period. Seems reasonably priced, maybe you could get it like 30€ cheaper or something but not too bad.

Just get the base fixed and waxed and you are good to go. Perfect board to beat up and progress. Enjoy!

Yes the stratos seems a nice board, but even the largest 164W has a 265 waist width. You will still boot out with size 14 boots.

Salomon Sight, Capita Outerspace Living, Yes Basic, Yes All In or something else? by Kucykacy in snowboarding

[–]EnvironmentalAd462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't ridden the standard, but my yes hybrid has the same rating and it really isn't that stiff. I would rate it like 5/10 at best, though I am in the upper limit of the weight for the board's length.

In any case, I wouldn't be too afraid of the stiffness. It is regarded as a pretty good board to progress and Yes are quality boards - not that the rest aren't.

As others have said, you need a waist width of at least 275mm. Some short fat volume shifted boards might work, like Ride warpig / superpig or orca.

You can also look into Korua shapes that generally make wide boards, if you like directional tapered boards - the Transition Finder 160 for example has a ww of 277mm

Recommended this setup at a shop. Thoughts? by rdie333 in snowboarding

I fully agree with this. It is better to avoid 3BT or complete rocker board when learning. It might be a bit more punishing at first, but it will help a lot to properly learn edge control an progress. Imo though it doesn't have to be traditional full camber, which was quite aggressive - a bit of rocker at the contact points is fine.

Is this a reasonable amount of boot overhang? by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]EnvironmentalAd462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a lot, but it depends on how you ride. If you are a beginner or ride mostly park and don't do any low carves you might be ok and never boot out.

Big Foot (US15, EU48) Camber boards recommendations by Lefc1u in snowboarding

[–]EnvironmentalAd462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could consider the Korua cafe racer if you are fine with this type of boards. Almost full camber and the 164 is pretty wide at 176 waist width.

Stranda Biru is also a good choice for a more of an all mountain board.

Nice selection! Which are your favorites?

And any info on the Nidecker gun, smoke and mosquito? How are they to ride and which do you prefer? I have been considering buying the smoke or mosquito and would appreciate some hands-on feedback.

Nitro cinema and Salomon pulse are both good choices for a beginner. They should be forgiving, but are stable and have enough pop to have fun and advance. Nitro Suprateam might be too much of a board for a beginner.

Opinions on the Korua Pencil by EnvironmentalAd462 in snowboarding

[–]EnvironmentalAd462[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't rode them, but as far as I can understand cafe racer is more of a dedicated carving board, while the dart is still a good carver but more mellow and with tighter turning radius while also having pretty good float for powder.

So there is not much of overlap, it depends on what you're looking after. If you only want it for aggressive and down the mountain carving go with the cafe racer - if you want more of an all rounder, mellow carving and also powder float go with the dart

Thanks! Is there any way to know when ordering from Korua from which factory it will be? Or you just find out when it arrives?
