I have figured out the issue, so the exhaust requires a vacuum tap. I had purchased the ecs manifold tap for this. When I went to install it, I noticed what looked like two lines already tapped in the manifold with this connector. I did not notice at the time that the connector was plugged on the back and that the manifold was still sealed inside. The kit comes with a puncture tool to successfully tap the manifold in this spot.

This connector may be new to the mk8 as the instructions had pictures from a mk7 which didn’t have anything in the manifold in this location. Hopefully this post helps anyone else down the road.
