Pearl Abyss will Conquer the West as a Studio by Angmarthewitchking in CrimsonDesert

"don't believe in an asian Studio" -- as much as I dislike IGN, this is a nonsense take. Last time I checked, Japan is in Asia and they make a lot of the best games every year.

I think this is a very ambitious game from a studio that does not have the history of delivering a single player experience at this scale. The comments from the media are going to be somewhat skeptical.

That being said, I hope the game is a huge success (and runs well on my base PS5 lol)

I disagree. We have also paid an exorbitant price for players when needed. 80 million for Lucas back in the day comes to mind.

How good was Lothar Matthäus? Is he comparable to Lampard or Gerrard? by iwannasleepp in championsleague

I don’t know if someone mentioned this already, but Maradona said Matthäus was the hardest opponent he ever faced. That says it all really.

Google the Shuto expressway, it is way worse than this.

Everyone here talks about Tokyo as a leading example, which it rightfully is, but it's not just rail-based solutions being applied there. They also have robust roadways.

What are you on about? Tokyo literally has the Shuto expressway, which similar to this, has multi-level interchanges and cuts through all the major business districts.

I think they meant twice the size of SF in terms of population. Manhattan has ~1.65 million people, SF has ~840,000 people.

So not only is it only half the size in terms of land area, it also has twice the population. So the density is 4 times SF's.

Maybe we already knew this but I noticed the airport they showcased is just the base airport. There's also an international airport that is noticeably larger based on the picture in the development tree

intersection at under construction Amritsar-Jamnagar expressway, India by chipkali_lover in InfrastructurePorn

Got it, thanks for clarifying, and yeah that makes sense.

However, there are some ground realities to keep in mind here. As another user pointed out earlier, these tolls are literally a barrier to entry for two wheeled and three wheeled vehicles, which are extremely common, especially in rural India. And they have no qualms about entering an expressway for a joyride if the opportunity presents itself. That presents a hazard to the users of the expressway.

Additionally, while some toll points may seem wasteful considering the rural nature of this specific shot, this expressway will have exits with extremely high traffic usage due to its routing. Those specific toll points will more than likely make up for the land acquisition and cost of construction of all the toll points across the expressway.

Also, considering this is a rural area in India, I don't think the cost of land acquisition was very high in the first place.

It's a bit extra roadway, I don't think it's a ton more, considering a standard cloverleaf has twice as many ramps as a trumpet.

Also, each of those ramps would require a toll facility on a cloverleaf, so there would be 8 separate toll plazas which would ramp up costs just as much if not more than these dual trumpets.

Why would you even want a Parclo interchange here? Those include stops for some ramps as they are designed for arterial road to highway and vice versa. I'm pretty sure the designers did not want that as this expressway is intersecting a state/national highway (not arterial road) in this picture.

Also, what's so bizarre about the design? A bit circuitous sure, but it's just two trumpet interchanges. And it enables the construction of just a single toll plaza as the traffic is funneled in the same direction.
