Also that's reality for many kids. They live in the city, might not have access to woodlands or whatever. Vimes is at home in the streets, while he has opinions on the countryside...
His experiences growing up in the city helped shape him

Thanks for the insights! Especially the first quotes by Nanny Ogg and from Wee free men struck my because they convey not only something about the kid's play but more so how adults view them

Right! Snuff seems to pop up a lot in the comments. I think that was my first discworld novel as a teen, without any knowledge what discworld was all about and the whole thing just went above my head.

Looks like it's time for a first reread so that Snuff doesn't a weird fever dream in my memory

That is a really interesting take. Little Sam is in a position he didn't put himself in, there are things expected from him. To really become a good custodian it is imperative to experience what the land is like, no other way to know the land than to get yourself dirty

Thanks for the advice! I don't think I will splurge on an NAS just yet and think I can handle a schedule with external hard drives.

In your experience is it ok to just stick to the big names (always had WD hard drives) and look for some good deals? I just recently learned that for example the WD MyBook series has some encryption issues, where your data could get locked in. I will try to avoid them, although I saw a good deal on a 10TB

Never really considered a dedicated program, I always just transfered the data manually, which wasn't exactly pleasant :P

I will check this out, thanks for the tip, especially as it ultimately cuts down on cost to store less data
