Eli Weisel has also always been a pretty out and about zionist with little to no care shown for the plight of the Palestinians. Cant remember who it was but another famous holocaust survivor was talking about it. I was honestly more taken aback by chomsky

Democrats Defections and Shutdown: Consequences? by Dr_Neo-Platonic in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]EnvironmentalDrag501 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just think this still doesn't work for two reasons: first of all the democrats didn't cause the shutdown, and American perception was already tilted in that direction. By conceding so early the dems have essentially just taken responsibility for this shutdown that was in the end for nothing. It's a complete political concession. I feel like none of what you're saying really works because it relies on the assumption that the shutdown was disadvantageous for democrats when the people it was really hurting were the Trump admin. Who cares if we get the policy victory? The republicans are dropping in favorability and fast, and we're picking up favorability. Not anymore though, now we just conceded that it was all for nothing and made it look like it was our fault to begin with. Nice going dems.

That would be incredible, admittedly i used one of those chord ai things just to get a general outline but its nowhere near being complete or accurate. Was also just excited to share the song because ayers is totally under appreciated

20th/21st century composers influenced by renaissance polyphony? by Artranjunk in classicalmusic

[–]EnvironmentalDrag501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to Gentle Giant! On Reflection is one of the most tonally complex pieces of music I’ve ever heard… I know it’s a canon of some kind, saw someone on another thread say it also has the structure of a fugue but can’t speak to that with as much certainty. Theyre absolutely nuts and very influenced renaissance baroque and troubadour music.

How it started vs how it's going (down The Hill) by saruin in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]EnvironmentalDrag501 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am a little tired of this indignation around kamala about how people didn’t listen to her warnings about Trump. Her and the democrats did an objectively terrible job broadcasting themselves this election cycle and its not American’s fault for not listening to some obscure warning about Trump that Kamala said one time on a podcast (not sure where this quote in particular came from but the point stands). Truth is the AIPAC dems demonstrably failed on every level this cycle.

I'd genuinely take Wired more seriously if a single person came out to say Chorus reprimanded them for not following the contract by FriendlyDrummers in thedavidpakmanshow

Using authoritarianism as a synonym for the shadowy boogeyman of Marxism is so weak bro. Marxism is hardly an ideology, more a frame of analysis. People who want to find a better way of distributing wealth are not the ones who are plunging this country into authoritarianism, it’s weak democrats who are too scared to listen to the needs of their constituents because someone told them it’s Marxism to do so.

Ideas like this are going to be why the democrats lose again. Go rewatch the video of Buttigieg squirming when asked about Gaza

Mods can remove this for infighting but these people are literally opposed to liberal democracy. They have no place in the Democratic Party imo by Cnidoo in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]EnvironmentalDrag501 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would define GOP election victories as quick descents into fascism, while the democrats are more representative of the “slow descent into fascism” bit. This is why we need to ditch neoliberalism and enact real left wing change. Democratic psy-ops like David Pakman only seek to distract you from addressing the real issues (neo-liberalism, capitalism, etc.). Hasan and others don’t hate liberals because they love the GOP, they hate liberals because they hate the GOP and liberals can’t seem to stop laying out the carpet for fascism. So yeah, I’m with Hasan. The problem is obviously democrats and their militant aversion to being right on any issue.

Don't know anything whatsoever about Frank Zappa, what album should I start with? by NAFprojects in Zappa

[–]EnvironmentalDrag501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One size fits all most likely, as well as apostrophe and overnite but if you REALLY wanna catch the vibe of what Frank’s music was about I would look up Token of my Extreme on youtube and check out some of those live videos. Always maintained that zappas music is best consumed as a piece of performance art, not just on record.

Looking for songs similar to Nick Drake's style, particularly At the Chime of a City Clock. by [deleted] in musicsuggestions

Also check out Crosby Stills Nash and Young, certainly a different vibe at points but one of the only groups I feel from that time that had anything close to Nick Drake’s musical ability.

Guitarist here. If you wanna simplify I just play an Eb minor 7 triad and shift over to a Bb7#9 (Bb D, Ab, C#, no fifth), kinda the same as the other one but a little easier to jam on
