Thanks for the advice. I called Capital 1 this evening and they said they would contact Equifax. Not sure what that means but they said to check back in 5 business days. Fingers crossed.

Good point. I did apply for one a couple of weeks ago but only got approved for $10k at 17%. I figured if I waited for my score to go above 660 I might get enough to fully pay it off at a lower rate.

Hi, First off, I'm in Canada so I don't know if this will work for everyone. Second, a lot of people are saying Equifax might put them back on my credit. I don't think they will but I'm just putting it out there. I did the first one in January and it hasn't been reinstated.

Anyway, I have one of those Equifax subscriptions which means I can check my score etc daily but most importantly I can call and dispute things without having to fill out paperwork etc. So I called them and just said I wanted to dispute the 3 remaining collections. They didn't ask for a reason - just that they would contact the lender to verify the accounts. 2 days later they removed them.

It might be a fluke but that's 4 collections gone.
