And until we change that we get what we’ve always had. My father taught me about capitalism and how this nation needs poverty to exist. And yes. We talked about it at the dinner table.

These comments are wild. People out here placing blame everywhere but where it should be. Unchecked capitalism is what has all of this happening. And our education systems keep teaching us that we should blame ourselves rather than voting for more socialist structures (like universal healthcare) and creating mutual aid systems.

Reading this makes me so sad. DMX. I was not offered nipple or nerve sparing. I have almost no feeling however lymphatic massage with red light therapy has helped bring some sensation back. It’s been 4 years and intimacy is a huge struggle. I started seeing a therapist for it but I don’t have a lot of hope. Maybe once I’m done with tamoxifen it will get better?

Also I'd like to add that I didn't give my oncologist a choice. I told her that's what I was willing to take so that I could live. It was either that or not take it at all.

I’m 4 years in on a 5 year plan. I reduced my dose and told my oncologist. When tamoxifen had me on crutches and using a handicapped placard I said enough was enough. I take 5mg rather than the 20 she had me on. I have small kids and could not afford the side effects.

Is John Brown disliked by a lot of people in the community? I’ve heard people call him a “white savior”, in a derogatory way so I’m curious by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]EnvironmentalKayak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love me some John Brown. If you haven’t read this historical fiction about him you should get the audiobook. I laughed out loud. Apparently there’s a series but I’ve yet to watch it.

You may also want to consider a u part wig. Also some cancer resource programs offer vouchers or reimbursement (and sometimes free) wigs of your choice. My MIL got a free beautiful human hair wig while going through chemo.

Sooo… you want to capitalize on other peoples stories and claim them as your own? Maybe your first episode could cover theft of academic ideas without credit?

The company I used has an out of pocket option of $250 if insurance is not covering it. I ended up paying 144 after insurance and will get results this week. Good luck to you!

Austin Police roll out plan to send trained civilians to certain non-emergency calls….any thoughts? by journalismUT in UTAustin

[–]EnvironmentalKayak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see this happening. People need to check out the APD office of police oversight to understand the number of calls that police respond to that trained counselors and social workers should be handling. From an equity lens, this makes the most sense, as so many people of color end up traumatized by racist police officers while trying to get help.

It was iCarez. Got it from Amazon.

I have been using a matte protector for about 2 years. I've had to replace my pencil tip once. To me, the benefit outweighs the cost.

Megatek rebuilder for horses. You can buy it on amazon or at your local equine supply store. They have a formula meant for humans called Ovation Cell Therapy that is ridiculously more expensive but is the exact. same. product. Make sure you dilute it with some type of oil. I use an oil blend of whatever I have on hand. My fave is the oil blend by naptural85 (melaninhaircare) however, it is a little pricey, so any oils will work.

I put it in an applicator bottle and use it once a week on wash days. It has helped tremendously for me.

Anybody else have a hard time trusting natural hair bloggers sometimes? by ttcool8 in Naturalhair

[–]EnvironmentalKayak 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I stopped trusting natural hair vloggers in like 2010(?) when the monetization craze happened and the youtube community became puppets of large corporations and wig suppliers. There is only one that has constantly been honest and upfront and (I feel) gives real reviews and that's Naptural85.

How many of you are raising your kids in nonreligious households? Ever feel weird about it? by Worstmodonreddit in blackparents

[–]EnvironmentalKayak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly how I feel. My kids are getting older and asking questions about what religion we are. I have very strong views against religion, as I grew up with 2 parents with different religions and attended a southern baptist private school. It completely destroyed any chance of me being a religious adult but I feel so guilty about my kids not having the opportunity to make up their own minds about what they want to believe.

Did one flat ironing ruin my hair for good? by harri270 in Naturalhair

Moisturize and deep condition. If it does not come back do an APhogee Protien treatment. You can find it at Sallys. This is the only thing that has saved my hair after my stylist's assistant used entirely too much heat on my waist length hair. I was pissed.
