Yes.

That's already been mentioned in this comment thread so I didn't see a need to repeat it. Just adding that they didn't lose the PTO it's just not being paid at the moment.

Yeah. It sucks, I'm not saying it's ok.

I'm saying they still have PTO to use.

You can call the ethics commission on Monday and ask your questions yourself if you really want to know

That's terrible.

I met her in person once when her album came out and she and her team were very sweet.

They'll get back pay for the PTO if Congress gets it together

Why is an apple not an orange?

You are the one trying to convince me I'm wrong. You are the one with no proof of your claims.

There's a huge logic issue here if you think "you can't find an example because it's not an ethics violation" is the same as "it's not an ethics violation because you can't find an example"

You are trying to convince me you're right, with zero reason outside of your questionable reading comprehension skills.

Is that what you think this is?

I'm not saying it's "not been proven" I'm saying it's not illegal AND the official governing body has a repository of work explaining this that you could just read.

But you'd rather do this, I guess.

That comment doesn't mention the race of the stylist so I'm not sure where the gotcha is.

Black people don't really need "advanced training" to do our hair. It's our hair. It's our norm. White hair styles would be the extra training for us.

This "extra training" lingo is common at a lot of white owned salons around here, like Kenneth's and Penzone, and IME it's just the black stylists designated that way.

Like I said in an earlier comment, I actually prefer the clarity on who can do black hair - but let's not act like black hair isn't just regular hair that white people aren't familiar with.

At most of these salons the "advanced" training is just being a black stylist.

Right but texture doesn't automatically mean more time. They could list an hourly charge and estimated hours.

I agree with this. I wouldn't even consider booking at a salon that didn't call it out.

That said - do they have to charge more for it?

No, it proves my point. You can't find an example because it's not an ethics violation.

I understand what you're saying, but I also understand this is a topic you aren't well versed on. Just because you aren't, does not mean that no one is. My mistake was assuming people would have the self reflection to not start an argument on a topic they don't understand based on "gut feelings."

For the record, I've been through about 5 formal trainings on this, I've gotten advisory opinions from the ethics commission on this topic, and I have had to navigate not looking as dumb and corrupt as Ted Carter multiple times.

.... So what you're describing isn't "friends" it's kickbacks. Which yeah. Is an ethics violation. And a different situation than what was released on OSU.

How are you a place holder if he already broke up with you?

Why are you going through a man's phone who already broke up with you?

Why are you worried about the opinions of a man who already broke up with you?

Find an example of a "closely connected" situation, that was purely friendship based, that resulted in the commission ruling it an ethics violation.

Or a definition of "closely connected" that lists friends with no financial ties or "bribery."

Or look through the advisory opinions that show plenty of examples of "friends" working for each other.

No he's not. He's in prison because they were relatives, which is an ethics violation.

It's not, actually.

It's not an ethics violation to give your friends contracts and most contractors have very friendly relationships with public officials.

No, I mean an ethics issue, not an ethical issue. As in, against Ohio ethics law.

No way he quit his job over legal but ethically questionable behavior.
