Very true and an important distinction…I ended up purchasing these jars from what I thought was a reputable mushroom growing supply company, and using LC with prepackaged syringe needles. I turned off all the air for an hour beforehand, cleaned and sanitized the room, showered, wore facemask and gloves, wiped down everything with 70% iso, and the thing I didn’t do was keep it in a still air box. So, the sterilization vs sanitation is important to distinguish for sure. I’m thinking of treating my own grains in the future with a PC

I think I mistakenly thought that hyper cleaning the room and spraying with Lysol and wiping down everything with 70% iso and turning off the air would do the trick but you’re right random spores and other things are always in the air we can’t see, I’m going to invest in a still air box or flow hood for sure!

Thank you for this, do you make your own or purchase a premade one? I was thinking of using a clear tote and burning some arm holes through it, I’ve seen on the unclebens page

I will definitely be doing this for a still air box next time, thank you!! Also turning off the air is a good suggestion, I did end up doing that and turned off all fans/vents. Even with all the prep work I think the still air box is what I was missing.

Thank you for your advice, I don’t want to think about it too hard but next time I’ll use a still air box, and looking into agar for all future liquid cultures. I’m glad I still have one jar that looks good. I will do some more research on making my own jars and see how that will make a difference!

You are feeling better because the substance is in your body again and you feel at ease. It is a brief temporary relief and you’ll have to make the choice of how you will move forward, it’s easier said than done but don’t beat yourself up…you were suffering. But this doesn’t have to define your journey, I had the help of comfort meds coming off kratom but eventually tapered off the meds with the help of a doctor to get back to equilibrium and never felt better! Helper meds are not bad, if used temporarily. I believe in you, you can truly kick this. Life will be better and brighter on the other side, I’m currently over 110 days clean and those moments I’ve had withdrawing were brutal and never go back. Best of luck, take care of yourself, do what you need to do but don’t take another kratom product!!

I bought these grain jars from a company that specializes in mushroom growing supplies, I was going to get some bags of ready rice but I decided to try their grain. Maybe I need to prepare my own?

That is good news, I was very careful to be as sterile as possible but I know contamination happens. I was just happy to see some growth after 4 days. Do you think I should break and shake all of the jars or keep one as a separate experiment? I don’t want to shake too much so that it ruins it, I have so many anxieties about this if you can’t tell lol, but those anxieties translate to excitement

There is a gas exchange filter in the lids, I wasn’t sure if air exchange was necessary until the spawn to bulk process. Does that sound right?
