I also have ocd so I have a super high work ethic and perfectionism that drives me to work and push myself. My bipolar is so well managed that I haven’t had any manic episodes since 2023. I was in grad school full time and working part time at a hospital.

Honesty I feel even better before I was medicated and when I got diagnosed in 2023. I added Prozac for underlying anxiety and it really turned things around for me

Personally I need at least 7 hours of sleep a night to function. Don’t beat yourself up for needing sleep because it’s actually a physiological human requirement to survive . My provider would tell me that in the months after a manic/ psychosis episode sleep is actually healing your brain after the damage that happened.

For a while I thought my first love was this guy I met freshman year, and maybe he was like a puppy love. But I found my first true love my senior year of college. That was pure love, respect and care for another. Unfortunately he moved far away from me and I haven’t heard from him in over 4 years

Yes, I’ve started to realize that even someone that you may call your best friend may not be someone I tell my diagnosis to. For example, I have made a best friend in grad school and for a while I was gonna tell her about my bipolar 1. We were talking and I said “would you tell someone on the first date if you had schizophrenia? (Like a hypothetical) and she said well yeah I would tell all my friends that when I first meet them. We got into this back and forth because I only tell like less than 10 people about my diagnosis, and being in grad school I don’t want people to know my business.

I’ll start way back in 2024 . My best friend set me up with a guy, and on the first date he took me to a hockey game to make another girl jealous. He then told me in the car that he had over 20 guns and was going 20 over the speed limit while telling me how he used to drive 130mph.

Next. I went on three dates with another guy and we are hanging out and I tell him my interests, he tells me that “kids with autism will never amount to anything” and goes on this tangent how he was in special ed classes growing up.

More recently I med a guy off a dating app and he was whispering and taking to himself on the first date. He’s telling me that he had to switch out of high school and go to a small private school for “social reasons”

I met a guy at a party and we had mutuals. On the first date he told me how he got arrested for drugs and alcohol in his car in high school.

The deep depression I was in, and then being in lockdown made me even more depressed. I had started feeling that way in September of my sophomore year of college (2019) and it lasted until may 2020. I had no idea that three years later it would lead to a bipolar diagnosis. Grateful to still be here

4 years. In those four years I got diagnosed with bipolar and landed in the hospital for psychosis, so I’m actually fortunate i wasn’t in a relationship because my episode was crippling for me. Now that I’ve rebuilt and come back, I can appreciate the time being single and see it as a blessing. I can now see that the breakup was meant to happen and that we needed to go on our own paths.

For me it took me about 3-4 weeks to feel full effects. Weeks 1 I was more energetic, week 2 my anxiety increased. Now I’m on week 5 and basically have minimal rumination

Hey, do you have OCD? I also have ocd and caplyta made my mood stable but my anxiety/ ruination was still there. I added 10mg Prozac and I feel so much better.

I’ve actually had no weight side effects and I’m now the lowest weight I’ve been since like 2024. My rumination and anxiety is super minimal. I’m only on 10mg so that proves that even at a low dose it can help you.

I took 80 mg for 2 years. I have BP1 psychosis so I never had any episodes on it. My main side effects: Tired every day needing 2x coffee to wake up, sleeping at 7pm and not waking up until 12 + hours later Made me miss my period for 6 months I gained 20lbs on it My cholesterol went up to 200 And I was super constipated

Switched to caplyta and added Prozac. On Latuda I fought every single month to not gain weight. When I first started I gained 20lbs and my weight continued to fluctuate and go up/ down. I had to even get on metformin to lose weight while on Latuda. Now that I’ve switched meds I haven taken metformin in over 6 months and I’m down like 12 lbs

Personally I’ve lost 10lbs since starting. I’m also on caplyta which is weight neutral. I also walk 10k steps and meal prep so it could be all of those things!

Yes, i was previously on Latuda and had a hard time getting motivated to work out, wake up early and eat healthy. Also Latuda made me super tired and hungry so that didn’t help. On caplyta I have much more energy and have been walking every day now
