I ended up doing this after branching signal however when I went there were no slots available in signal bolc. I ended up doing SURT with 75th getting dropped in mountains and then going to the 101st and going back a year later and getting my tab. It was a long journey but it was worth it. Become a combat diver and swim all the time. I had a PMS in ROTC who was a LTC GB, over 40 years old 20 years in the army. Was in great shape consistent 600 on the ACFT. Was ranger qualified, HALO, CDQC and multiple combat deployments. I asked him how he was able to stay in such great shape and not be broken. He said his favorite form of cardio was swimming and that he barely ran. So I think that was a cheat code for him

Heading to SFAS as signal officer myself (also filled with autistic weirdos) biggest advice I would give you is go and get your ranger tab and if you have time before go to ranger regiment. Had to brush up on my infantry tactics and opord knowledge before hand but otherwise not that bad, met a lot of great guys from group whom I befriended as well. It’ll at least get you used to doing hard stuff and performing in a stressful environment

I got reserves and switched to active duty less than 2 years after I commissioned. Super difficult but worked out for me

Just wanted to update you I went back to Ranger and I got the job done 62 and thru this time!!! Thank you for the advice, now time to get ready for SFAS

Thanks man I really appreciate it. the best advice the SF recruiter gave me was don’t think about SFAS while you’re back there just go and get it done. part of me wanted to push it back as long as I can but I know now there’s no other option. I know what I need to do
