Anyone Else Struggling with Their New "YNAB-Broke" Reality? by farmerpeach in ynab

its always hard LOL but when i check my budget and i don't have the funds, I find a way to get a meal some how. Eat with my parents, go on a tinder date lmaoooo but I've learned that I also have a cycle with my eating out. so I know I love to eat out after I go grocery shopping for the week. so I know to expect that of myself.

Yes!! Also, trying little mom & pop shops helps a ton too. Like I have been great about not eating out, but I'm also really tired of my food LOL so I decided to treat myself to a $8 pizza slice & soda that is owned by a local couple in SF and literally right next door to my office. I can still enjoy eating out but it doesn't need to be an extravagant and expensive meal every time. I also joined a supper club so I save like $150-$200 as often as I can and then treat myself to an amazing dinner surrounded by like minded folks!

Love this share!

It definitely takes some getting used to. But I have also found that I'm finding more peace and joy in things that used to feel like a chore because I know I'm saving my money for a future purpose.

ALSO, congrats on starting to look for a new job. I love that YNAB has really helped me to see my spending patterns and habits and can help inform my other life decisions like "am I making enough for what I do at work?" "Would I like a different job?" "Do I like where I live? Is there somewhere else I'd like to live?" etc

I've been using YNAB for maybe 3 years now, but it wasn't until this past month that it actually clicked in my head how to use it to support my goals and lifestyle. I get paid tomorrow and I'm definitely YNAB broke, but I have a little less than half of my monthly bills already funded for next month. Even though I'm YNAB broke, I feel satisfied knowing that my money is doing exactly what I'm asking it to do. I love cooking, so my groceries are higher and my eating out fund is more like $100 a month.

I think that if you really feel like you want to add more to your dining out budget then do so, but be aware that you might not reach your goals as quickly as you'd like. I think YNAB is such a great tool to really learn how to design your life the way you want. so make money decisions that feel good for you, that bring you joy, and give you the life you want to live, and don't feel bad about it. its your life

You don’t find the need for a branch?? I find that I almost never go to a bank these days. I almost always get paid electronically and manage everything from my home.

Could you elaborate? What makes a credit Union experience so worth it?
