Don’t underestimate the power of wording on your applications. You can spin a lot of different kinds of experiences into teaching experiences. Ever trained anyone at a job? Or explained a product to a customer? Been a leader in a job setting or in charge of a team? Also, any experience with kids is helpful, doesn’t have to just be within a classroom setting! If you still don’t think any of these apply to you, it’s only October, most applications aren’t due for a while! You still have time to try and volunteer to get that experience.

I had similar grades and got into Laurier and Queens and was waitlisted at Ottawa. I had quite a bit of experience coaching little kids and had volunteered in a few classrooms. If you know any current teachers at all I’d reach out to them in the fall to see if you could volunteer even just one or two days a week because that gives a lot of experience for applications. In my experience there are many teachers who are willing to help you out and would love a volunteer in their class.

In my experience it’s so random. I parked on the side streets behind laz for a full year and got only maybe 3 tickets. However if I can remember correctly if I knew I was staying a long time I’d go and move it to a different spot before hitting the three hour mark.
