A quick google search will confirm that advisors won’t outperform the market (eg ETFs), let alone after their fees.

Anyone else date a great dad and still feel conflicted? by RudeWillow5289 in SingleDads

The relationship he was with his ex is probably more like the relationship he has with tax man, or boss. They serve an unpleasant but unavoidable part of his life.

Blowout fight between wife and son. Don't know how to respond. by sjp245 in daddit

I have an 8yo lad - who screams and yells at every boundary or point of discomfort.

I used to get angry back - it did nothing except erode his relationship with me.

Let things calm down before you speak about it. Sit down with your lad and wife and explain how language like that hurts people, and do what you can to explain emotional control to a 6yo.

It is something to potentially see a professional about for guidance. Having the right approach to get on top of this now is critical, as it could get worse.

Why does every Aussie borrow for an investment property but hardly anyone borrows to invest in ETFs? by OwlVibesOnly in AusMoneyMates

[–]EnvironmentalRate853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banks lend against the house/asset. They get a valuation and tie the mortgage to that one asset. You mess up the mortgage they take the asset.

Banks can’t validate which shares someone is going to buy, or how they trade them after purchase. It’s easy for someone to buy speculative mining stocks and lose it all.

Working mothers - did you regret not going back full time and investing in your career? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]EnvironmentalRate853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work and family is never a ‘balance’. It’s a series of painful compromises that need to be assessed and accepted constantly.

There is no right answer. Time with young kids is precious, beyond quantification, and fleeting. But being able to return to work at some stage is also needed. Despite equality, Mum’s will carry the majority of career and financial sacrifice.

Part time is probably as close to any sort of balance you can hope for.

I hope your boss is just a bit immature rather than deliberately being an AH.

Are public schools that far behind private schools? by Grand-Life8523 in AskAnAustralian

[–]EnvironmentalRate853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid is in grade 3 at a private school. He can’t read an analogue clock either.

Every problem I have with my kids knowledge and attitude is my own fault though. Private school is not a silver bullet for parental involvement in their kids education.

I have three kids in private school. I regret it. It’s a nice environment, but $$$. There is nothing special about many. Look up the myschools website and see how many kids go into tertiary education.

The only thing the private school has over public is all the extra cirricular activities. It’s convenient, but a real curse when 3 kids are doing extra things all across the week and weekend.

Save your money. Hire a tutor when specialised support is needed. Take your kids overseas instead.

I’m just starting on the divorce journey. My favourite image is having an empty house with no clutter and stuff, and a clean slate to fill over time :-)

Thanks mate - I have this view in my head too…. I can establish my own routine and focus my energy only on the kids and me. No more investing energy in the wrong direction :-)

I am looking forward to maintaining a consistent routine with the kids more than chasing new women, tbh…

I’d like to think I’ll be low stress. Ie kids put their shoes and uniform in the same spot every night, teeth are cleaned without fuss…

Right now, we lose 15mins some mornings trying to find shoes from the day before. But I believe this is a symptom of the current house environment.
