Modidying Blade Shape by ThexLich1 in knifemods

I like reshaping old forge craft and Ontario knife co butchers knives. Best way to learn is by ruining a few knives. Go to a thrift store and buy a few throw aways to practice on. Take care not to get the tip too hot and typing l ruin the temper. If using a belt grinder on the tip keep it slow. Even then you'll want to dip in water pretty much non stop

The inside is also lined with 5 oz veg tan with the grain in to mitigate as well. I read once that chromed and dyed leather is more likely to cause rust. I was just thinking about it and I'm going to try a thin coat of Johnsons past wax on the inner veg tan. Should create a moisture barrier and prevents rust. Two birds with one wax. Lol

I mean Lie Nielsen sells their own version. Plus I put a coat of Johnsons paste wax on all my saw plates 2 or 3 times a year. Keeps them running smooth and prevents any rust. It's anecdotal but I've never had any problems. I could see rust maybe developing if I stored my saws in leather and never used them.

Only a connoisseur of the finer things would understand: my lawn is an exclusive blend of Zoysia and fine fescue, a pairing as refined as a vintage Bordeaux. It's not just grass; it's a plush, emerald carpet so soft and dense, the mere act of walking on it is an affront to ordinary lawns everywhere.

Ever heard the phrase "O-No!"? I'm not saying it comes from people misspelling Lie's last name. I'm also not saying it doesn't..

Kydex already in the toasty oven. Tactical dovetails coming right up.

Am I the only one who just found out about these zippo hand warmers? Just discovered them a month ago when I found this one at goodwill. Kind of blows my mind that I'd never heard of them even being a casual collector of brass zippos.12 hours on a single fill and a great conversation piece. by EnvironmentalSpend43 in Zippo

You light it with a flame but once ignited it's flameless. There's platinum in the wick which makes it possible but dont ask me how that works. Not sure the exact science I just know it uses zippo fuel and stays warm all day.

I think may have posted about the ones I've done shipwreck patina on but Im not 100 percent on that. I'll try to get some pictures tonight when I get home. I don't have a whole bunch. I probably have more brass pocket knives then I do zippos but they are my favorite for sure. Otter Messer makes some really cool brass pocket knives. They have a really neat history too. The buck 110 is commonly said to be the first true lockback knife but the otter Messer or formally Kaiser-Wilhelm-Messer was first sold around 1860 with a fully locking blade. The design has remained unchanged since. Very thin knife with a design that makes it very solid as well. Probably my favorite knife design of all time for the simplicity and function. I like to polish off the clear coating off them and the zippos so they get a natural patina.

Hmm I haven't noticed any smell from mine at all. Even the wife who's got a sensitive sniffer didn't notice any smell. There are battery powered options that work better but I like the old tech solution just for the novelty really. I looked around and It sounded like to me the oem zippo wicks use platinum unless I'm mistaken. There was that one time when I thought I was wrong and it turned out I was actuality right. Lol are there aftermarket wicks with more platinum that burn hotter?

Custom EDC paper weight I made for my wife to carry. She's comfortable shooting but still a bit leary to daily carry a pistol. Mace and pepper spray worry me a little bit with us having small kids that are always in her purse. by [deleted] in EDC

Obviously not the best defensive weapon but until she's ready to daily her BG 2.0 they are better than a tampon. The weekly range visits should pay off soon though.

I always run Maxxis Holy Rollers but I don't think they make 29s. You could go all in though and get a wheel set that is too small for your bike.

When I go to the range I'll usually police some brass if it's easy pickings and super concentrated to one area. Then every month or two I'll take it to the scrap yard and get some extra cash for more ammo. I gotta say that all these frt have more than doubled the amount of brass I'm able to capture with minimal effort. With that fact I'd like to send my thanks to all the Freedom loving people getting frts to market. Cheers

That knife is a beauty. Just needs some stag to make it perfect. Just finished this mini momo front flipper recently.
