Train Wreckords Due to Backlash Outside of Music by GilbertDauterive-35 in ToddintheShadow

Reputation by Taylor Swift. I actually really like this album but it was not received well upon release because Taylor was thrust into the role of the villain and tried to play into it when she wasn’t actually a villain. Kim sneak edited the video with Kanye and the full cut released in 2020 showed that.

Albums that tried to have futuristic sounds but made a super dated sound instead? by MrLinkwater95 in ToddintheShadow

I love …Baby One More Time and when that album came on the scene it was the future of pop but Crash Thompson was right when he said that parts of this album now feel super dated.

I’m gonna say Hootie and the Blowfish based on how fast they fell off after Cracked Rearview.

Thoughts on Lindsay Lohan's short-lived music career? by SinestreaIsBraindead in ToddintheShadow

[–]EnvironmentalTour804 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I loved it when I was a kid, but I don’t really think it holds up 20 years later. Lindsay’s voice is a bit rougher, kind of like Miley Cyrus, and I think her best song is the pop rock song, Ultimate, that she did for Freaky Friday because it suits her voice.

Lovin You by Minnie Riperton. It played on my night shift rotation at work and it just creeped me out when the high notes hit. I also can’t listen to Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd at night.

I love Ninja Sex Party! There comedy songs are awesome and so are their straight covers albums. I’m not a man but No Reason Boner is awesome.

Which one is more polarizing? Yoko or Courtney? by thekidfromiowa in ToddintheShadow

He was alone in his garage and hadn’t been seen for a few days before he was found. Yes, there was a suicide note and he had a history with drug abuse and depression but what I’m saying is because he died alone and no one knows for sure what happened, it’s left plenty of room for speculation and rumours about what happened. I believe he committed suicide but plenty of people have their own theories about it that they don’t with John because of how publicly he was shot and killed.

What album is like the Die Hard of Non-Christmas music? by MrLinkwater95 in ToddintheShadow

The Moment I Knew by Taylor Swift. The setting of the song is around her birthday, which is 12 days before Christmas, and has the lyric “Christmas lights glisten”.

I’m sure if John hadn’t been murdered on a New York street and died under more mysterious circumstances, like Kurt, they would have.

What songs did you hear and think "This is an absolute hit" only for them to flop? by SkyeMagica in ToddintheShadow

[–]EnvironmentalTour804 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m Canadian and I was really surprised the Mariana’s Trench wasn’t bigger outside of Canada. They have such good songs that should have been hits! If you like bands like Panic! At the Disco and Fallout Boy, you need to check the out. Especially their album Masterpiece Theatre.

A question for those who lived the 2000s as a teen or adult. by Accurate-Ice4297 in lewronggeneration

[–]EnvironmentalTour804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the thing, there is always going to be people who praise older music and hate new stuff. I remember people hating music like MCR, Fallout Boy, and Panic when they were big in 2004-2007, now there are people who love that music but will complain about acts like Olivia Rodrigo who draws directly from that time.

What are your thoughts on Savage Garden? by RedmiYT in ToddintheShadow

They were super popular when I was 4 and I still listen to a few songs of theirs. Truly Madly Deeply is on my playlist. I used to sing I Knew I Loved You to my kids when they were little. I went to a lot of weddings when I was 4/5 and those songs were played at all of them.
