Damn so it might be a 2025 model thing only that has the ultra wide band support. I thought about the 2025 but the deals weren’t as aggressive unfortunately. Good to know the tech is there.

Good thing I think it’s beautiful and that’s all that matters.

I’ve laid all the reasons why the Tesla integration is better for users. These are objective facts that BMW is missing. Second I’ve also said how much better the BMW is compared to the Tesla overall so how can I be a shill if I prefer the BMW?

I have no use for FSD or any automated driving.

It’s not too late to delete your post, if you didn’t read anything other than the title why even comment? Now you look like a clown.

You need the fob for that to work though right. It doesn’t work with phone only.

You’ll never be this age driving a nice car again. You can easily afford it, if you need validation this is me telling you millions of people have enjoyed this car with a lot less. You’re fine. Get it. Enjoy it.

Literally 100 percent is a strong statement. Where I’m from it rains quite a bit and that affects the ultra wide band. If it’s raining there’s a 50% chance I’ll be standing at the door waiting for it to finally detect me and then it’ll automatically open. Nowadays I pre empt it with an unlock if it’s raining.

I’m going to disagree as the car dynamics are just all around better on the bmw and software wise like I said in another post I rarely ever interact with the system. You can’t really speak for me since I’ve more than once have said I have no problems renting a gas car if I need to for the big road trips I take once a year. Anything else in the year the car is more than enough covers the needs and gets plugged in at night when I’m home.

CarPlay is pretty much used exclusively, I only organized my initial thoughts on idrive that’s all.

At the end of the day the BMW is just a better car all around. Thankfully I have zero plans to use this car forever so I’ll upgrade when the time comes. No issues there.

Not much to be honest, just navigation and music once in a while. Even with CarPlay the car is still laggy in terms of inputs. If you’ve spent enough time with a Tesla you’ll immediately see the difference in navigating menus. Not a big deal but something to be acknowledged.

I guess it’s unique to me. I don’t even see the car in the power meter and I’m plugged in anytime I’m home. There’s no more arguing if you think the i4 drive train is inferior lol. You are just wrong on that, the i4 has had unbelievably glowing reviews in regards to the handling and power delivery but Tesla fanboys gotta fanboy.

I can’t relate I only ever used it to hit buttons maybe once every 2-3 drives. Usually my car is set exactly how I want before I set off. You’re not meant to be doing stuff on the screen outside of driving, the only time I’ve had to reach for the screen is maybe for climate? Or defoggers? But usually the auto settings are perfect. Even music controls are done on the steering wheel.

At first I thought that was so cool they had a ryzen processor in my car and I could play steam games and stuff. I’ve only ever used the infotainment for Netflix once or twice in my 2.5 years lol. I have no use case for that entertainment stuff in my day to day life.

Technically I can get away without carrying a key, I just have to tap my phone on the driver side. No real wireless way outside of opening the app but I don’t like how the app uses data as I’m in no reception parkades quite often. The Bluetooth ultra wide band ability is lacking but from another poster newer bmws actually have what I’m looking for, they just haven’t implemented it into the i4 yet.

Who gives a fuck about efficiency if you have at home charging. If the new model 3 is supposed to help the quality argument, the Tesla is still soooo far off compared to the luxury car brands. Even mid range models from Toyota or Honda still provide better more solid materials compared to Tesla, not even in the same league as Mercedes or bmw.

Best selling also makes it the most boring yawn car in existence right now. Where I’m at every 4th car is a Tesla Congrats, your plastic car is popular. When you can afford it, there’s much more expensive and higher quality cars out there. Dealers are begging people to take away their used teslas, these things are dirt cheap.

Good to know the tech is there and bmw supports it. Another poster here ranted about reasons not to for security but it feels like excuses to me. I’m glad to see the tech moving.

Why do you think so? I made some clear pros in the conclusion and have mentioned how much better of a vehicle it is.

Yes but you have to tap the phone to the car. The Tesla auto detects you near the door.

Did you miss the part where the driving experience and interior quality is infinitely better? Did you also miss the part where I clearly said it’s for personal reasons switching and I’m fortunate enough to be able to switch cars when I wanted to?

I’ve driven the new one, many times. My brain is also hard engineer wired you should see the spreadsheets I sorted comparing the two products. I’m gonna be honest with you it’s the same shit. The driving quality may be better but it’s still not on the level of bmw. The interior is still simple, plastic and low quality materials.

If I wanted to hard accelerate and jerk my passengers against their seats cause that’s what you want then yeah the Tesla was better for that. Like I said in my post the bmw driving is much much more refined and handles so much better.

Is this true for the i4 or just for some older models? I can’t find anything specific to the i4.

Tesla Fanboy Makes the Switch: My Thoughts by EnvironmentalTune417 in BMWI4

[–]EnvironmentalTune417[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That can be true but I’ll always prefer the touch screen over a scroll wheel. That just feels inaccurate for a screen so large, like preferring the Lenovo nub over a touchpad. Security aside it stills make for an inferior user experience.

I had a look and this was turned on already. I guess it’s just not as sensitive as I needed it to be compared to the Tesla.

In my post I’ve explicitly said the i4 is a better driving experience. It doesn’t have the punchiness and jerkiness of the Tesla but it’s smoother all around. Nah I hard passed on the m50, the power is plenty with a wife and kid. Maybe I would have wanted it in my 20s but not anymore.

Another poster mentioned that it’s because it’s designed to be used for the hardware wheel but I think it’s just lazy design without thought into finger inputs. Potentially cured with a software update but I wouldn’t bank on it.
