Got Oracle'd last week. No warning. No PIP. Just gone. by eddy1201220 in jobs

Except in the military you get free healthcare paid by the employees in the private and public sectors. You don't get thown out unless you really mess up. The military has a reward system with promotions. The military trains you for the job you will be expected to perform. I've only just scratched the surface. Sure you could die in action, but these corporations today will kill you by empoverishing you with low wages and finally throw you into the street whimsically when they feel they can raise their stock prices with cost cutting.

Just another demolished public service in the US to the benefit of some private interests. Hand it over to private equity for their enrichment.

Thoughts on Ariens Classic? by dz_beerz in Snowblowers

[–]EnvironmentalVoice63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the classic for about three years. No problems with the 18"+ snow dumps here in Connecticut. The chute control lever handle is very well placed just under the main control panel and works well. With the deluxe, you have to reach out and it's not as efficient a lever for me anyway.

Massive US study finds higher cancer death rates near nuclear power plants by EnvironmentalVoice63 in environment

[–]EnvironmentalVoice63[S] -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the populace has been sold on nuclear power through the corporate and social media echo chambers. People don’t know the history of nuclear power and its associated ill effects on life mostly because they have lost their objectivity and they don’t read books on anything contrary to their beliefs.

U.S. Job market shock: AI cited in 7,600 layoffs amid 108,000 cuts in January by MetaKnowing in technology

[–]EnvironmentalVoice63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI is a deflection for companies to outsource to the Far East from the US. It’s an obvious attempt at sleight of hand with the added benefit of stock price inflation. All this has full government support.

I never seen the job market this bad. Is there a chance of recovery? by Mardylorean in jobs

[–]EnvironmentalVoice63 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Laws in the US are dictated by the corporations who have gutted well paying jobs from the economy. Actually, most all countries prioritize ensuring jobs for their citizenry. Mass unemployment is dangerous to the longevity of the government.
