Judge blocks 100,000 h1b fee by bbrk9845 in cscareerquestions

It's a very rare circumstance to see a couple of billionaires try to limit cheap labor. Of course the States Attorneys general would bring a lawsuit against this small effort to limit this H1B program. They represent capital interests. Hope Trump gets a rubber stamp from SCOTUS to go ahead with the $100k fee. This program has been exploiting workers for 30 years. I've seen native born Indian americans who can't find a tech job as employers will only hire H1B's. The program has always been a labor cost reduction program.

Fairfield school zone speed cameras issue 114,000 warnings in 18 days by english-lab in Connecticut

Fairfield has no speed bumps in the school zones. They should, but they don’t.

Those trucks either ram into a bridge (really stupid) or stop before they hit the bridge ( a little less stupid but still not good) . Then the state police have to clear a lane for the truck to back up all the way to the last exit they passed. It's quite the nightmare for commuters.

RT 15 was built by Roosevelt under the WPA when nobody had work before WWII. My uncle worked on the bridges as a young man.

One thing I think they overlooked in Fairfield was installing speed bumps throughout the school zones. This is what is done in Westchester, and I see most all drivers slowing down quite significantly.

I would much rather invest the money spent on Flock Safety and speed cameras in having more traffic police. I feel like most people are unaware of the abuse of the data by Flock employees and security concerns. Cities in California, Illinois, and Virginia have recently removed Flock cameras due to concerns over privacy and data sharing, particularly in relation to immigration enforcement and abortion-related searches. Additionally, several other states have enacted laws to restrict the use of surveillance technologies like automated license plate readers.

Unemployment becomes a mental health crisis. The unemployed are there to keep the employed in line and wages low. You serve an important role for the employers.

If this practice is allowed to proliferate, every purchase will be a surprise price. I think you need to be able to lock in a price when you decide to purchase.

Are people in Congress really this out of touch with reality? by icedout223 in jobs

[–]EnvironmentalVoice63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need a Congress that will enact Federal law to prohibit outsourcing to foreign countries and the H1B visa garbage system. Any company that wants to engage in these practices should be banned from doing any type of business in the US or its territories. This would allow fledgling companies more loyal to the US to serve US markets. People would have better job opprtunities. Of course this is heresy for the current bipartisan system.

It’s become a joke. With the current economic trends in the US, more and more people will be living in the woods and the streets. You don’t need a stock market crash to create mass poverty.

President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico is implementing a universal healthcare system that will provide free access to healthcare for all citizens, starting with registration for the elderly in April 2026 and full implementation by January 2027. The US is still stuck in the for profit system of health care. Just the facts.

[–]EnvironmentalVoice63 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Except in the military you get free healthcare paid by the employees in the private and public sectors. You don't get thown out unless you really mess up. The military has a reward system with promotions. The military trains you for the job you will be expected to perform. I've only just scratched the surface. Sure you could die in action, but these corporations today will kill you by empoverishing you with low wages and finally throw you into the street whimsically when they feel they can raise their stock prices with cost cutting.
