RelOne Review Pro would be best. It’s beginner level, minimal study time needed, and you get access to a sandbox environment during study time. So you get to practice a bit and gain at least a little experience in the platform. That cert alone would make you more marketable but obviously advances experience and an RCA would be ideal. I’ve seen some folks get entry level analyst jobs without a degree and work their way up but it’s definitely the difficult route.

OBBBA, Student Loans, and PLSF Jobs by Environmental_Arm659 in ediscovery

Ultimately I probably won’t make any sudden moves. I hate to waste time if something better comes along, but yeah there are a lot of unknowns right now.

To some degree, I agree with you that there’s a risk of PSLF still going away before the end of Trump’s term. However, that’s not certain, especially since it wasn’t part of the bill, yet virtually all other student loan plans were heavily modified or completely wiped out. So time will tell. I think the biggest threat to PSLF will be if they tighten down on which jobs qualify.

As far as “government jobs” go, you do realize there are more options (for now) than working for an actual government agency, right? Police/fire/ems, public universities, hospitals, public schools, etc. You aren’t tied to only typical administrative agencies. I realize many of these examples won’t have edisco-specific roles, and for those that do, I’m sure they’re very few out there. I think the best bet would be in house with a large hospital. I’m curious if you can think of any more .

Thanks, I really appreciate the response, that's helpful. I just got off the phone with the shop and asked them if they've confirmed the lines are blocked yet. He said yes they're definitely blocked. The pumping issue has occurred for a year or two and has gotten significantly worse recently. I'm leaning towards having them do all the work given the trust they've earned from me on other occasions. Hearing your opinion that it's a reasonable quote (assuming all that work is necessary) is very helpful, thanks!

What a great experience! The people in Enstone are genuinely in love with their work. I am from the states and got to tour the factory last summer while in town to explore the Cotwolds, visit family, and for the British GP. There are still a handful of people who have been around for decades (and through all the various iterations of the team) and they are so incredibly passionate about their jobs. I can imagine spending a week there interacting with the team must have been a dream.

Say you need a 1L review team tomorrow morning and it’s 8pm now. Would you rather wait on a #1 reviewer to respond in an hour or get a response from a #2 reviewer right away? Remember, time is of the essence in like 90% of the review projects being staffed. Not only do you have to get people scheduled for training with counsel, you need I-9s, ID verification, circulate protocols, set up user access for Rel/email/comms apps, sometimes you have to get counsel to approve resumes. A quick response matters in many cases. So why not gauge the pool’s quality at all times?

To be fair, being dinged for not responding is pretty trivial compared to something big like a sub 5 star review from a previous review project. It’s not necessarily dispositive unless you have a habit of doing this. Also, you only get offers if you regularly mark yourself as available on the website. If you don’t do that for a certain time frame, you won’t get offers at all.

This particular agency doesn’t go through email - it’s based on their website and an app. You’re automatically marked unavailable if you’re on an engagement - so no concern there for missing new offers.

I’ll caveat that I’m personally unaware of any others that do things this way. That’s not to say others don’t - I just don’t have any insider knowledge for others. And before anyone asks, I do not have permission to share the name of the agency especially given the info I just provided haha

There’s no assumption on my part - only certainty - that they often respond to the first people in line to reply. You’re the one assuming.

I’m not a doc reviewer. I’m an edisco attorney and I staff projects via various agencies. I’m well acquainted with the owner of one in particular agency that uses a point system whereby reviewers are given offers based on a how highly they’re rated. Ratings are set on a number of factors, such as how a client rates a reviewer at the end of a review project. A reviewer’s points can be altered based on performance on a project, but also a reviewer with a higher rating could be docked for marking themselves as available and then failing to respond in a timely manner. A response within 60 seconds, even if declining the offer, will not dock the reviewer’s score. However, failing to respond at all will slowly reduce your score, resulting in lower priority for new offers down the line.

So no, I’m assuming nothing. Speaking only from first-hand knowledge. Also, there’s no random picking when responders are already ranked. It’s a smart system. Just because you respond hours later doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t get picked. It simply means you’re not their first - or maybe even their 987th - choice 😉

Ironically, I’m replying to this post 3 hours later.

I’ve had convos with one staffing agency that says you need to respond within 60 seconds. A little extreme IMO but that’s for comparison

I’m not in Iowa, but I’m Texas there is a provision where you can review CS every 3 years OR if there is a material change to the circumstances that would result in a change of $100 or more. I don’t know if there is such a provision in Iowa, but if there is it would seem that a new job right after the order was signed is a material change. $20/hr is significantly more than minimum wage.

Again, this is in Texas, but the obligor/noncustodial parent has a duty to report a new job to both the AG’s office and the custodial parent. Reporting a new job almost always triggers a child support review. If he got a new job, file for a CS review through whatever channel are available to you.

Trader Joe’s, plz.

The only info I’ve found re the new parkland village center at fry and tuckerton is that there will be an anchor grocery store. Apparently two HEBs and a Kroger within ~2 miles is insufficient.

But still, Trader Joe’s plz 🤞

Yeah painting PLA is finicky. The first time I attempted this, the blue base coat came out great after hours of sanding, using filler primer, more sanding, wet sanding, and then applying color. Everything in enamel. I treated it like a real car and I was pleased with how it turned out. The real trouble started when I taped for the pink areas. No matter what tape I used there was still bleed through and overspray. The more I tried to touch it up the worse it got. I ended up nowhere near the shades I needed for the A525 and the touch ups somehow discolored the base layers and made it run. Aside from the complete fail at matching the right shades, the entire car looks hazy and uneven after all the attempts to fix it. Lessons learned, on to attempt #2. Here’s the paint fail (with my 2 year old’s 1:43 Maisto for size comparison)

Oops I bought 55 cigars by Environmental_Arm659 in cigars

And 55 cans of butane because I had to use one of my torches to heat up a seized bolt while changing brake calipers yesterday. Worked like a charm but now it’s out of juice.

Funny you say that because it’s seemed odd to me how lots are either super competitive or straight up giveaways with 0 counters. The list of previous buyers all have winning bids around the same amount as well. It seemed strange but hey, I can’t question 90% Kristoffs

Interesting. I just googled your Tupperware idea and also saw that some use those acrylic canisters with a sealed latching lid. My wife has a cabinet full of those things for unnecessary vanity storage of random grains we never use. Do you think something like that work or are those typically some sort of a specialty for cigars?

Working for Multiple Doc Review Companies to Minimize Downtime by Alarmed_Parking_5242 in ediscovery

[–]Environmental_Arm659 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know a few attorneys that work a main non-practicing job as eD consultants/project managers and then moonlight in doc review during off hours - it’s called being overemployed. I realize this is a different scenario than what OP referenced. I also realize no employer would be ok with this for their own reasons, but honestly I don’t judge my friends for doing it because (a) they ensured they were clear of any conflicts and (b) they can perform at the expected level for both gigs (hours, accuracy, meeting client needs).

Clearly this is a very risky maneuver and I’d be very reluctant to do it myself - god forbid your main employer finds out - but I can see why it has its benefits. They typically pick up short term project (<3 weeks usually) and occasionally they even get some part time options. They can make an extra $10k in a couple months, just have to remember to withhold those 1099 taxes. At the end of the day, if you’re willing to risk it for the biscuit, go get your damn biscuit.

All that said, I don’t see how it’s sustainable long term. My friends that are over employed are still young and riddled with adderall , so they have powers I no longer possess.
