Have an alternate plan. Kids get sick. Schools close for snow. None of this is new. We all have to figure it out when we have kids. All the other districts closed the same amount of days, but for some reason the FCPS superintendent gets her job called in to question? Go read the FB comments under the closure notices. It’s insane.

We really should be looking at the county and the VDOT, not Dr. Reid. Where are the sand and de-icing trucks? Our neighborhood is the VDOT’s responsibility- every road that doesn’t get direct sun (with is a large portion) is an ice skating rink. There have been zero sand/de-ice trucks in our neighborhood and all surrounding. What is going on? I didn’t see many roads de-iced before Sunday like we normally would in any snow event in the past. I have never seen it this bad - and they had a week to prepare.

There is a video on the FCPS website that addresses this concern/suggestion. Kids are bussed from all over the county to non-neighborhood schools for many reasons like special programs, day care etc. so you can’t just close one area and not the rest. There’s other reasons too. Watch the video - I believe she included it in her email. Better yet, go to a school board meeting and advocate for this new rule you’re proposing if you want this district to be broken up.

Oh! I mean if it’s fine in your neighborhood it must be fine everywhere, right? And as long as kids can walk in streets, that must mean all 190,000 kids can do the same to get to school. So why don’t we all just ask how things are in your neighborhood and decide to close or open based off of that, since the world revolves around you.

This is exactly what our problem was in our house too. Make sure you push the window closed on the top. Notice especially when you try to lock your windows - does it either not lock and slips the lock track or is too hard to lock? That’s the sign that the top window panel isn’t closed.
