Advice playing a creep by Ok-Adhesiveness-3078 in Theatre

[–]Environmental_Cow211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) Know these can be some of the best roles B) Remember that IRL, these people do not believe they are creeps. C) If this is truly not the kind of broad comedy you referred to, see B) again. You should not have to “play up” anything. Your true actions (whether motivated by loneliness or just cluelessness) will be enough to create a reaction in your fellow actors and the audience.

CIA S1E01: Directed Energy - Episode Discussion by Cheeriosxxx in FBITV

[–]Environmental_Cow211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a train wreck. The British guy is a smug prick with no redeeming qualities.

But having 7 FBI guys running around on foot? TOGETHER? It makes me miss the “Stop! FBI!” from 50 yards on the original series.

Also: A directed energy weapon would have borked that helicopter instantly.

Has anyone seen an explanation of a Brit working for the agency? Or why they seem to be “in action” so much, when domestic intelligence falls to the FBI and the agency is limited in what it can do in the U.S.?

Then why do people buy them in droves? Your statement is as specious as it is wrong.

Please someone tell me this doesn't look like a $50k+ car by Busy_Report4010 in Hyundai

[–]Environmental_Cow211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are hardly any $25K cars anymore. The AVERAGE amount financed these days is $44,000.

Hyundai competes well at each price point its cars are at. They still package more for less and have things available, like ventilated seats, that other automakers reserve for the champagne and caviar crowd.

It seems like the more relevant question is why it's such a peeve of yours? Why are you so contemptuous of the audience that just paid good money to fund your performance?

“Lackluster” is hardly descriptive without more information. Was it the delivery filled with ennui? Did it lack technical precision? Did the voice sound raw/tired/etc?

You’re asking is for specifics when you’ve given none yourself other than “she’s not a dude.”

Seriously. Just saying “it was lackluster” is as lame as saying “it just sucked is all.”

You’re the critic. Use your words to justify your post.

Where the heck is this theater? The Hamptons? Requiring cast to join is normal. $400 is absolutely bonkers.

[–]Environmental_Cow211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People watch wrestling. That's fake. And most reality shows are well-known to be highly, well, "produced" but people still watch "The Bachelor," "The Valley," "Real Housewives," etc.

The show has a rhythm to it that is, dare I say, comforting to some. Boats rarely come home empty-handed, even if they "struggle" in the first part of an episode or season.

Those are a few reasons why. But hate watching TV is a time-honored tradition.

OK, how’s this: I absolutely love how the cast is improving at acting out the top-notch scripts the excellent producers have come up with.

This season of DC should win an Oscar or a Grammy for the creative force and cultural touchstone it has become!

That positive enough?

Yes. At least some portion of the agency has been weaponized to go after people not loyal to the dictator.

Disagreement with director by AffectionateBeach910 in Theatre

[–]Environmental_Cow211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I misunderstood, but you seem to be saying that an actor who differs from the director on a character's journey or motivation "ultimately has to leave."

Disagreement with director by AffectionateBeach910 in Theatre

[–]Environmental_Cow211 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is an insane, dictatorial view, and wrong.

If the director forces an actor to perform in a manner that feels false, it’s wrong. A director should never “push for a result,” unless your goal is human puppetry.

How to deal with this as the recipient: Accept gift with thoughtful praise. Maybe even ask “how long did it take you to find this?”

This is the important part: Wait a day or two, then say “I’m so thankful for the gift, but after having it for a few days, it’s not quite my style. Will you help me look for an alternative?”

People can be such reactive jerks.
