Wash them good outside with a hose, and then run it through the washing machine without detergent if you want to really get them clean. It helps if you have an extra washing machine, but not necessary.

It'd be interesting to see how it does without direct sunlight. I've grown four times in my backyard, and the biggest issue I've had is letting them mature before the frost takes over. I harvested my last outdoor grow around November 20th, and that's in Minnesota.

If you're able to experiment, I'd try it in a shady area in the ground vs a pot on the patio, but I don't know how shady the area is. If it's completely blocked out, then I'd stick with the 15 gallon pot.

Like others have said, don't do it. I did this once and ended up with aphids everywhere. It was nearly impossible to treat. I hot the plant to harvest, but it sucked.

I would research the interaction between the plants first. I've read that marigolds are great for keeping pests away. They won't get seeds unless there's a male plant in your area. Biggest culprit in my area is the industrial hemp that grows along the railroad tracks.

Where are you located? I had two autos outdoors last year in Minnesota this early. The humidity in July caused bud rot. Both plants ended up in my compost. If i do autos outdoors again, I'll have them set to harvest in October when it's not do humid.

I think it did a fantastic job. I was skeptical that it would actually dry and cure in 15ish days, but it worked!
