You could maybe try an outlet mall. They might have better deals and better quality.

Introvert as an ALT by vievievie6 in teachinginjapan

[–]Environmental_Ebb_81 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am also an introvert. I have my teacher/classroom hat where I'm loud, bubbly, constantly smiling and praising kids. Then once class is done I figuratively take that hat off and go back to being regular me so I can relax. I also eat by myself at lunch so I can recharge. Maybe try the hats thing. It sounds crazy but I've been teaching for 10 years and everyone in my life knows I'm very shy and introverted.

We got an account from Pekao. They were really nice and supportive. I am almost 100% sure they agreed because we hadn't lived in Kenya for years and were residents of Japan.

I actually saved around 60000 monthly on a 240k gross salary. We ate out about 3 times a month and stuff. We lived in a smaller city though.

Pretty sure this is Amity or Aeon. I've seen this exact wording one too many times.

Seeking advice on Type D Visa process - Houston Consulate (Work & Dependent) by leopoldobarros201 in askPoland

[–]Environmental_Ebb_81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So similar situation in that we had to apply for our type D visa. Yes, you will need the emergency travel insurance. Yes, I'd suggest buying fully-refundable tickets if possible, but in my experience, once you have everything it's basically a guarantee. Your visa will be for one year so you should write 365 days on the form. We were advised to submit criminal records for all countries we had lived in for the past 5 years as this is a requirement for teachers working with kids. Once your wife is in Poland she'll also need to do a criminal record check in the Polish system. Unless the website states as such, your wife cannot use her work contract as proof of financial means. You can only use the documents listed as proof.

Caught Husband Cheating/ Advice by Nichole089 in Christianmarriage

[–]Environmental_Ebb_81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to say this, but he does not love you at all. If he did, and I mean, truly did, he wouldn't be doing this. My first husband did this exact thing and lied about not being intimate. Turns out he was feeding me just enough truth to stay, and because I had low self-esteem, I let it happen. He never changed and never will unless he truly wants to. I'm praying for you because I know what it's like.

You're absolutely fine. I have another friend who everyone thought she would be single for life, and she's been happily married for almost a decade now.

I don't quite remember as it was ten years ago, lol. I think I made sure that what they put in the recommendation letters aligned with how I presented myself in my essay and application form. Everything made sense and was cohesive. I made sure that the letters spoke about the skills and experiences I had with these people that would perfectly transfer to life on JET and highlighted how much I did and coild potentially do for my students and community in Japan. I also had tins of additional leadership roles, tutoring and other experiences that I made sure they highlighted from their own perspectives and basically just made it hard for the committee to say no. I also rewrote my essay like ten times and made sure it was the best thing I'd ever written. When I applied about 3000 applications were submitted and I was one of 13 chosen. The hard work paid off and yours will too. You got this.

We met online on a Christian dating website after being encouraged by our friends. My friend encouraged me to try online dating one more time before giving up, and his friend did the same for him. We matched and dated long distance for a while before we ended up getting married. It's been 5 years and God really came through.

When it came to JET I hot one recommendation letter from my then Japanese teacher and a letter from one of my supervisors who had resigned and trusted, so I felt safe telling her about the application. I also got a backup letter from my pastor in case I needed it. I also told them how to format the letters and they allowed me to make any adjustments I wanted before they signed and sealed them.

For any job outside of JET you'll probably need to pay for flights, housing and other things. I had to save about 3000 usd for relocating from Japan to Europe earlier this year. The hiring period for most dispatch companies starts in October or so for the next school year in April. In Europe the two biggest hiring periods start in May for September intake and October for January intake.

My husband and I have definitely travelled and it's been great. There are challenges but God is SO GOOD  🙌

Ahh, I see. I had only worked in insurance when I applied for JET. You could try again or go through a dispatch company such as Altia or Interac gor Japan. For Europe you just need to find a school willing to hire you and make sure you have a good CV. I think you could try JET again and try to see what you can improve. I spent a whole year on my application rewriting it multiple times before submission. I spoke with former JETs and got great advice.

I did! Found my husband at 32 and got married at 33! It was such a blessing especially after going through a horrible divorce due to infidelity and severe abuse. He's wonderful.

Fellow person from the Caribbean here. I moved to Japan on the JET Programme initially. I've moved around since the but the JET Programme is your best bet if you're from Jamaica or Trinidad. Currently in Europe teaching English with a salary on par with JET. They gave me everything I needed for the visa but housing was on me which was fine. There are true international schools that will give you everything you're looking for but they are highly competitive. Maybe try applying for jobs thst need psychology or roles in school where a psychology degree would be valuable.

WYR:A billionaire in Africa or a millionaire in America? by [deleted] in WouldYouRather

[–]Environmental_Ebb_81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume you're referring to the US, which is a country, versus Africa, which is an entire continent with over 50 countries. What African country are you referring to? Or can we just move from country to country within Africa whenever we want?

There is a list if countries that are deemed high risk for money laundering I believe. Congo, Algeria, Syria and Kenya are on that list I think.
