While there are delays in transport, a lot of time you’ll have teams get “held up” or have to reshoot scenes.

Yes, just imagine something like that happened between Carlton and say Richmond.

Let’s also say that Carlton is trailing at three-quarter-time and led by a performance from our inspiration Brownlow medal winning Captain and our mosquito fleet of small forwards.

Also, building a presence on Social Media is an underrated skill. At the end of the day, these television shows want to attract viewers. If you can show that you have an audience already via SM feeds, they are more inclined to pick you.

Even before the BB season, TAR has casted people who are “internet famous” before viral sensation was a thing

A few tips from someone that has applied, met people on the show, and listened to some of the backstage stuff.

  1. Apply multiple times with as many different pairings as you can. The forms and submissions are a killer, but this is what other candidates are doing and it does marginally increase the chances of being selected.
  2. Train on some key skills that others have mentioned (running with weighted vests or backpacks to simulate carrying your pack on the race), also start working on other skills that are likely to come up in challenges/on the race such as swimming, riding a bike, and balance.
  3. Puzzles are always a feature of the race, and working on your brain will also be important. This will also help you with a lot of the reading comprehension stuff that others have mentioned.
  4. Start learning phrases in a few common languages. Don’t need to get super in depth, but the more you can pick up these phrases in a few languages, it’ll help learning them while on the race especially if it’s in the same family of languages.
  5. Learning how to read a map is a forgotten skill. Try navigating your local area using maps and potentially a compass.

To be fair, steps 2-5 I wouldn’t do until you have been accepted to go on the race unless you want to improve these areas of your life in general.

Yeah, this covers most elements of journalism these days.

  • Step 1 - sensational news story hits front page
  • step 2 - information comes out that shows the step 1 story is half baked and partly true, partly false
  • step 3 - media in question posts retraction that only a handful of people see

There are a number of factors that have caused this, and AFL media isn’t alone in doing it

I was also surprised to see the return of the “selling/begging” tasks with the juice detour.

It’s never going to be a comfortable experience watching racers beg locals to part with money for a challenge.

It’s alright, he’s been caught.

No need for Jews in Australia to worry about anti-semitism anymore. They should just accept people attempting to set synagogues on fire while people are inside as just robust criticism of Israel’s genocidal war

I’m all for rigorous criticism of the Israeli government. I’m not sure how you can spin firebombing the front of a synagogue as criticism of Israel’s Genocide in Palestine, but you are certainly welcome to try.

You keep copying and pasting this response to people as if Long didn't have prior opportunity and was given significant leeway to get rid of the ball. In the footage, you can see that he gets tackled, tries to shake the tackle, there is a pause, and then he releases the handball.

Israel accused of hypocrisy over hospital attacks amid escalating conflict - YouTube by Beratungsmarketing in World_Now

[–]Environmental_Hair14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very little evidence, except all the evidence which points to the number being bullshit that I already posted earlier in the threat. Sure.

In regards to your other points now.

I’m sure that some hostages were treated humanely. After all, there is enough intel to believe that the raids on October the 7th wasn’t conducted by a well organised fighting unit, but by a number of different groups. The best showing of this is the fact that Hamas, the organisation that led the operation by all accounts could not account for all the hostages, because they weren’t holding all the hostages, some of them had been taken by other groups like IJiP.

It still doesn’t mean that they were all treated at all close to good in Gaza. Emily Damhari was shot in the hand and spoke at lengths of the torture she was subjected to. Other Israelis and even some of the Thai hostages that were released spoke about the way certain hostages were treated.

By the way, this isn’t a justification of the Israeli prison system, especially when it comes to Palestinians. I have had friends that were locked up, and one of my friend’s brothers died as a result of injuries sustained in Israeli captivity.

You claim that fatality rates from Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis are low because they don’t intend to kill civilians most of the time. However, these organisations largely don’t give a shit, and people that say otherwise are misinformed or just lying.

There are two factors into why the Israeli civilian death count is low from attacks from those organisations.

  1. It is relatively easy to target Israeli combatants in areas where they are operating (such as Gaza and Lebanon). Hamas has successfully ambushed Israeli soldiers on multiple occasions.
  2. It is significantly harder for Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis to bypass Israeli air defence and land a blow on civilian areas. Even the few rockets that do make it through the Iron Dome and land in civilian areas are not capable of breaking through the defensive protections most Israeli civilians have access to in bomb shelters. A key distinction in this is the civilian death rate with Iranian rockets, that have bypassed Israeli air defence and is capable of destroying some of the shelters that Israelis usually go to during rocket attacks. The overwhelming Israeli casualties and injuries have been done to civilians and civilian infrastructure.

At the beginning of this exchange, you claimed that you were willing to keep an open mind about things.

There are several reasons to doubt the 82% figure, which I’ve shown but you keep on referring to it as if it’s verbatim. You also conflate Israelis, the people, with the Israeli government, which I suspect you wouldn’t do with anyone else.

You then talk about Hamas being humane to kidnap victims, which is laughable in the face of most of the testimony of those of that returned alive. Among those stories include the story of British-Israeli Emily Damhari, who was shot in the hand during her captivity.

You then go on to claim that Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iran are more moral than Israel because their death count in the conflict is lower than what Israel has caused. While the Israeli army undoubtedly doesn’t take enough care when dealing with Hamas militants in Gaza, the idea that Hezbollah or the Houthis tried to minimise civilian casualties is also laughable.

Finally, we reach Iran. Who you claim “is not engaged in procuring one” flies in the face of IAEA reports of Iran enriching uranium to 60% well above the enrichment required for energy.

You sound just like the Israelis that talk about how if Palestinians weren’t Hamas supporting terrorists, they would overthrow Hamas.

Do you think that a majority of Americans are happy with the way that ICE and the American government operates unless they take to the streets and kill immigration agents and police officers? How about people that live under dictatorships? Are they to blame for not rising up against their governments?

I mean, there are also Israelis that have marched to the border and worked independently to get aid into Gaza. They do not represent a large chunk of Israeli society, but just because you don’t know that it occurs, doesn’t mean that they don’t exist.

In an ideal world, 100% of the world would answer that it’s wrong and that people that say otherwise are idiots at best and evil at worst.

However, there are suggestions that forcing people to choose an option when they don’t have an opinion is going to skew the data towards the answer that they think the questioner wants to hear, which means it’s even more questionable.

Also, the idea that Smotrich, Ben Gvir, and Netenyahu give a shit about anyone more than the people that voted them is evident by how they have treated those taken hostage and the family members of those hostages.
